More items from our back-to-school cleaning! These chairs were used in a committee room, until we replaced them this summer with wheeled ones. There are eleven available. Wood frames with cloth seats and back supports. Most are in good repair. Some need gluing and tightening up. The seat cushions are clean and not torn, but they have provided support during a lot of meetings. $10 per chair, or all of them for $95. I am happy to supply directions for you to visit our library and pick them up. E-Rate at MLA and a Nov 4 workshop at Delta Township District Library
by Norris, Sonya (MDE) 19 Sep '19

19 Sep '19

The Library of Michigan asked public library directors: if you don't apply for E-Rate discounts, what's stopping you? The majority response was not concerns about filtering but the administrative burden. The landscape has changed with the arrival of the Michigan State Education Network (MiSEN). It's a fiber backbone that provides fantastic speeds for a mere $.50/mb. What makes it even better is that libraries connected to the MiSEN will be able to sign a Letter of Agency to join consortium applications and stop filing E-Rate paperwork but still receive the discounts. No more forms! Want to learn more? Stop by the MiSEN booth at MLA located next to the registration booth or come to the library-specific E-Rate training on November 4 at Delta Township District Library from 10-2. Register here for the November 4 E-Rate training<https://libraryofmichigan.z2systems.com/np/clients/libraryofmichigan/event.…>. Program Recommendation: Irene Miller
by Jessica Luther 19 Sep '19

19 Sep '19

The Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library hosted Holocaust survivor, author, and educator Irene Miller last night. We had a huge turnout to hear her speak about her experiences as a child during the Holocaust- fleeing Poland to Russia, being sent to a Siberian work camp, and an orphanage in Uzbekistan. She was an engaging and inspiring speaker. You can learn more about her at her website: http://www.irenemillerspeaker.com/home She is based out of Bloomfield Hills, so the Library provided overnight accommodations and reimbursed her mileage from her engagement the day before, in addition to an honorarium. Her speaking fees are flexible. I cannot recommend her enough to have at your library, school, or other community organization. -- *Jessica Luther* Assistant Director *Alpena County George N.
