Procurement of supplies needed when we reopen
by Oscoda County Library 15 Apr '20

15 Apr '20

Good afternoon: As I am sure many of us are facing the same struggles regarding supplies, I reached out to my county commissioner liaison about this. I also reached out to the commissioner who is the liaison with our local health department district. Yesterday I was directed by my county commissioners to a great resource, and I wanted to share it with everyone on the list. https://www.michiganbusiness.org/covid19/ [1] There is a link for COVID-19 virtual procurement and donation assistance forms. I had to answer a few questions related to my business, and with in 24 hours I heard from a procurement specialist. Granted the vendors listed you must purchase the supplies from, but it is someplace to start once we are allowed to reopen. Stay Healthy! Amy -- Amy Knepp, Director Oscoda County Library 430 W. millage materials?
by Maggie McKeithan 15 Apr '20

15 Apr '20

We have a millage coming up and we need to create some postcards/flyers/booklets to give out to patrons and in our community. The millage committee will also be coming up with millage materials to distribute, as well. I'm looking for inspiration. Could you show me what your millage materials looked like? Pictures or scanned files will work great. The more samples the better! Thanks, Maggie McKeithan Library Director Spring Lake District Library 616-846-5770 ext. 1161

15 Apr '20

Dear All, Everyday life in the U.S. changed drastically in March 2020 when millions of people started living in a state of health emergency due to the global coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). There is a lot of information available about the pandemic, and we are interested in understanding the public attitude about information during a public health emergency. We invite you to participate in a brief survey that seeks to understand your individual experiences of information flow in this new situation. Link to survey: http://sjudlis.com/covid19survey/ Since we intend to distribute the survey broadly to a wide group of people in the U.S. regardless of their age, background, or geographical location, it would be of an immense help if you would please pass on the survey link to those who may be interested in filling this out. More specifically, please encourage your friends, colleagues, or anybody on your social media network to participate in the survey. Thank you for considering participation in this research project. Join us Friday for a dialogue about the post-pandemic library
by Pam Seabolt 15 Apr '20

15 Apr '20

We invite you to join MCLS staff for the next dialogue and discussion in our weekly series of conversations around the environment we find ourselves working in right now and what opportunities might exist as we move forward. This week we continue to discuss and co-create the post-pandemic library world. The top images of the preferred post-pandemic library future from last week’s discussion are: * Libraries deemed MOST ESSENTIAL institution in the country * Places to re-connect = libraries * Serving the underserved with new vigor * Taking the library out of the building * Library saves the day with remote patron services * Great community collaborators providing convenient services and leading in safe practices * Reinventing traditional services to meet the needs of today’s worlds * Continue to remove barriers to service and keep those changes in place * Library supports “life-essential” activities Part support group, part visioning, let’s share our thoughts and ideas as we delve deeper into these images of our preferred future. Join us this week on Friday, April 17 at 11:00 EDT (10:00 am CDT) on Zoom. Please login using this link for the Virtual Dialogue<https://zoom.us/j/172695113?pwd=dnpuUVBudFR5MHZaTHl4bTN6UjZWdz09>. Or someone who is eager to enhance their leadership skills? If so, nominate them (or yourself) to run for one of the open Board positions. Newly-elected positions will begin service on July 1, 2020. Open Board positions: * Vice President/President-Elect * Treasurer * Publicly Funded University Rep * Private College Rep * Community College Rep * Interest Group Coordination Council Representatives (Two 2-year terms and Two 1-year terms) Nominations open on April 15, 2020 and will be accepted through May 20, 2020.
