Author Presentation Recommendation
by Katie Rothley 13 Oct '20

13 Oct '20

Dear Michlib-L, We recently hosted retired journalist and first-time author Marney Rich Keenan and she was incredibly passionate, knowledgeable and engaging with our audience. She just published her book: "The Snow Killings: Inside the Oakland County Child Killer Investigation" which was a personal topic for many of our attendees. Marney and I had planned on an hour event as a whole, but we received so many questions that the event ended after just a little over an hour and half. I highly recommend engaging her as a virtual presenter. I did assist and run her presentation from my computer while she talked, as this was her first one. She encouraged questions, looked forward to the interaction and really took the time with patience to answer every single one. Here is her contact information for anyone who is interested: "Marney Keenan" <marney(a)marneykeenan.com> Katie Katie Rothley, MLIS Marketing & Outreach Librarian Lyon Township Public Library 27005 S. Roomba?
by Valerie Meyerson 13 Oct '20

13 Oct '20

Has anyone out there jumped on the Roomba bandwagon yet? We are considering purchasing one to give it a try. Seems like it is too good to be true - and expensive if it backfires! If you have a Roomba, does it make it around all the chairs and stacks or does it get stuck? Do you recommend? Thank you - Valerie Meyerson, Library Director Petoskey District Library [jpg Blue Small] Please think about the environment prior to printing this email.

Meeting Room Policies
by Stephanie Daniels 13 Oct '20

13 Oct '20

Dear Librarians, We are trying to create a meeting room policy for our new library. If your library permits social parties, what are the charges for use? Is it only permitted during library hours? If it is a weekend social party are there additional charges for staff supervision? I know due to COVID-19 most meeting rooms are not available, but I wanted to ask about library policies with regard to this type of gathering.
