FAUST Public Library of Westland 6123 Central City Parkway * Westland, Michigan 48185-9118 (734) 326-6123 * FAX (734) 595-4612 * www.westlandlibrary.org POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT I (Part time) Internal and External Date: October 5, 2021 Closing Date: October 20, 2021 Reports to: Head of Technology Position Available: Immediately Summary: Responsible for routine maintenance and cleaning of the library building's halls, public areas, staff work areas, restrooms, storage areas, and offices in a clean, orderly, safe and sanitary manner. Performs year round upkeep of library grounds through picking up trash, cutting grass, care of shrubbery and plantings, raking leaves, shoveling of snow and treating parking lots and sidewalks. Performs minor repairs inside/outside the library. Experience: This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. One year of facilities/maintenance experience in a related building. Schedule: 25 hours per week, primarily on nights, mornings and weekends. Occasionally will be required to work a day shift during the week. Union: Westland Library Union SEIU Local 517M (Non-Supervisory) Salary: Starts at $17.50 per hour Benefits: Prorated vacation leave, personal leave and paid holidays for employees working 20 or more hours per week. Poet Margaret Hasse tonight on Zoom

Margaret Hasse will read from *Shelter*, a book of poems and watercolors created and published while both she and visual artist Sharon DeMark were under quarantine due to Covid-19. The book of poems and artworks was created through Zoom exchanges. Hasse and DeMark would volley poems and watercolors. Hasse might start with a poem and DeMark would respond with an image. Edits and reworking would follow until both artists were content. Hasse will explore with the audience how this project both helped and fell short of her coming to grips with the isolation and loneliness of covid. The Zoom link is mcdl.pub/sl-zoom. Feel free to share the link freely. This is part of the Shifting Landscapes series brought about through a partnership between the Mason County District Library and the Abondia Center. As part of October's focus on community, tonight's program is the kickoff event focuses on the individual.
