Tecumseh District Library - Virtual Tour of the University of Michigan Museum of Art - Wednesday, December 8, 2021, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
by Chuck Harpst 06 Dec '21

06 Dec '21

Tecumseh District Library hosts Wish You Were Here at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) on Wednesday afternoon, December 8, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Zoom. Museums and similar collections worldwide face a shared and difficult challenge: the return and repatriation of objects to their communities and owners of origin. We are privileged this fall to enjoy a virtual tour of an exhibit at UMMA dedicated to this challenge. During the course of the public exhibition Wish You Were Here (August 21 through December 31, 2021), curators and researchers will investigate 11 African artworks of dubious origin in UMMA's collections, and grapple with issues of ethical ownership, provenance, and practical restitution. During our virtual visit, we will join those investigators on their journey as they share their progress through a living and growing Research Timeline. A primary objective of this project is to begin to address the injustices of colonialism while strengthening existing relationships and creating new ones with partners in Africa and its diaspora. Call 423-2238 to sign up for the presentation or register online at www.eventkeeper.com/code/ekform.cfm?curOrg=TECUMSEH&curMode=LOGOUT&curHelp=…. Tecumseh District Library invites all to this special event. The library is located at 215 North Ottawa Street. For additional information, call Chuck Harpst, Reference/Local History Librarian, at the library, 423-2238. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday (October through April) 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The library's web site can be accessed at http://www.tecumsehlibrary.org.

by MiLibrary Quest 06 Dec '21

06 Dec '21

Hello, This Friday (December 10) is the deadline for libraries to sign up to participate in MiLibraryQuest: Winter Quest 2022, a virtual Quest for teens throughout Michigan. MiLibraryQuest: Winter 2022 will be held from February 1 through March 15. After world-famous thief Lupin steals a best-selling Michigan author’s laptop, it’s up to Michigan teens to find and decipher the clues the thief has left behind. If your library would like to participate, please sign up at bit.ly/MiWinterQuest2022SignUp by Friday, December 10. What is MiLibraryQuest? Following library closures in March 2020 and a shift to virtual programming, a group of librarians from throughout the state began meeting to collaborate on virtual teen programming. We created MiLibraryQuest, a virtual scavenger hunt, for all teens throughout the state as a summer event. Since then, we’ve hosted the program seasonally and are back for our fourth edition this winter. What will participating libraries do? Each participating library will: - place the MiLibraryQuest image and a library-specific clue (which will be given to them) on their website - promote the event to their teens (Promotional materials will be available from the Quest team.) - award at least one prize to a teen who is from your library and completes the Quest What will teens do? The list of participating libraries and links to their websites will be provided on the Quest website. Teens will visit the libraries’ websites, locate and decode messages, and enter to win a prize. Additional information You can see more information on our website: https://milibraryquest.wixsite.com/quest1 Questions? If you have any questions, please let us know at milibraryquest(a)gmail.com. FaxScan24 machine and cards available
by Lauren R Arnsman 06 Dec '21

06 Dec '21

Hello! We are looking to rehome our FaxScan24 machine. We also have several cards available to go with it. Pickup only (the machine is moderately heavy!), please contact me off list. I've attached pictures of the cards available and the machine with housing. It does need a dedicated phone line. It works, we just found a better solution for our library. Ideally, they would go together but I'd consider sending the cards to a separate, loving home. :) Thanks, [cid:image009.jpg@01D72564.6B713EA0]<https://troypl.org/> Lauren Arnsman | Head of Digital Services (she/her/hers) 510 W.
