We understand that some of you weren't able to get into the session. Materials, the continuing education certificate and recordings associated with the Symposium are/will be housed on our website here: https://www.cslpreads.org/summer-symposium-2021/<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fclicks.ev…>. For those of you that attended the symposium, or after you watch the recordings, we would love to know how it went for you. What did we do well? What can we change for next year? Vendors for library equipment?
by Kevin Hawley 03 Dec '21

03 Dec '21

We're looking to replace some of our computer accessories (receipt printers, barcode scanners, etc.). I know MCLS used to offer discounted pricing through a few different vendors, but that contract has ended. Has anyone worked with a vendor/organization lately who offers discounts or group pricing for libraries for this sort of equipment? PRESS RELEASE: Michigan’s Minimum Wage Set to Increase on January 1, 2022
by White, Shannon (MDE) 02 Dec '21

02 Dec '21

Libraries have been asking whether this amount will increase in the new year. Information normally goes out in early December each year regarding the amount. Please see below. Shannon White Library Development Manager Library of Michigan, 702 W. Kalamazoo, Lansing, MI 48909 Whites29(a)michigan.gov<mailto:Whites29@michigan.gov> 517-335-1507 | www.mi.gov/libraryofmichigan<http://www.mi.gov/libraryofmichigan> Follow us: Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/libraryofmichigan/> | Twitter<https://twitter.com/LibraryofMich> | Instagram<https://www.instagram.com/libraryofmichigan/> [LEO Banner] --- PRESS RELEASE --- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, December 2, 2021 CONTACT: Austin Fox<mailto:FoxA6@michigan.gov> <mailto:olsend1@michigan.gov>517-526-2632 Michigan’s Minimum Wage Set to Increase on January 1, 2022 LANSING, Mich.— Michigan’s minimum wage rate will increase to $9.87 on January 1, 2022, an increase from the current $9.65. Michigan’s Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…> of 2018 establishes the annual schedule and increases. The Michigan Wage & Hour Division announced that while the law does prohibit scheduled increases when the state’s annual average unemployment rate for the preceding calendar year is above 8.5%, it is highly unlikely Michigan will exceed this threshold causing another delay as occurred in 2021. The state’s 2021 annual unemployment rate, which is determined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), U.S. Dept. of Labor, is calculated by using both average labor force and unemployment levels for January through December. The annual average unemployment rate for 2021 is expected to remain well below 8.5%. Effective January 1, 2022: * Michigan’s minimum wage will increase to $9.87 an hour. * The 85% rate for minors aged 16 and 17 increases to $8.39 an hour. * Tipped employees rates of pay increases to $3.75 an hour. * The training wage of $4.25 an hour for newly hired employees ages 16 to 19 for their first 90 days of employment remains unchanged. A copy of the Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act and related resources, including the required poster, may be obtained for free by visiting Michigan.gov/wagehour<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…>. ### [LEO Mission and Vision.
