All, MAP/TLN is pleased to welcome a new venue to the Michigan Activity Pass program. USS LST 393 Veteran's Museum in Muskegon is now a MAP partner destination! [ https://www.lst393.org/ | https://www.lst393.org/ ] Here are the "Terms of the MAP Pass" for USS LST 393 Veteran's Museum: MAP Pass holders receive the following discounts: $12.50 admission for an individual (non-MAP admission is $15.00) and $35.00 admission for a family of four (non-MAP admission is $40.00). Michigan Humanities is thrilled to launch the Great Michigan Gathering<https://www.michiganhumanities.org/great-michigan-gathering/>! This free, three-year statewide initiative builds community through the art of intentional gathering. Through a series of free programs, resources, and partnerships, the Great Michigan Gathering aims to unite communities across the state. Each year deepens the work of the previous year by using a framework that builds on connection, awareness, sharing, understanding, truth, and growth. It all begins October 8 at The Henry Ford. We’re kicking off our new initiative with an event featuring Priya Parker, author of The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters, whose work inspired the focus of this initiative. The event will be livestreamed to 100 community watch parties across Michigan. We want yours to be one of them. What is a Gathering Partner? The Great Michigan Gathering is built for organizations like yours, whose mission centers on bringing people together. As a Gathering Partner, you'll have access to: * A statewide network of organizations doing this work across Michigan. * Discussion guides and facilitation tools to lead meaningful conversations at your gatherings. * Personalized marketing materials to promote programming in your community. * The opportunity to apply for a Gathering Grant to bring public humanities programming to your community. Grants will be available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and Michigan Humanities will reach out to registered Gathering Partners when funding is available. How can your organization get involved right now? * Attend the October 8 kickoff<https://luma.com/uhmovy2o> at The Henry Ford, or host a watch party in your community that evening. * Share this invitation with other organizations in your network that should be part of this movement. Ballot ask results ODPL new additional 1.0 millage
by aestelle otsegolibrary.org 06 Aug '26

Just sharing... Unofficial Results for Otsego District Public Library from Millage ask this past Tuesday. Approved for a new 1.0 Additional Operating Millage in Perpetuity 56% yes / 44% no [cid:image002.png@01DD2595.E147D940] ODPL had not asked for additional operating funds in 30 years. The last ask was in 1996 when minimum wage was $3.35/hour and we operated a facility less than half the size of current facility. We have been operating on 0.9502. We are grateful for the community support on this millage to keep pace with minimum wage increases, maintain our aging facility and restore our fund balance. Our current facility was built in 2009 and this winter is our last payment on our construction bonds for it. This was my first millage campaign in 20+ years in libraries as I have always been at libraries with millages in perpetuity. It was a great experience and I learned a lot! College Library Director Mentorship Program
by Elise J Bohn 06 Aug '26

06 Aug '26

Sharing on behalf of the College Library Director Mentorship Program. I was a member of the 2019/2021 cohort. As a newly appointed library director in 2019 this was the best initial investment in my professional development. Participating in the CLDMP was exactly what I needed. I gained access to varying perspectives, problem‑solving approaches, resource sharing, a growing collective knowledge base, support systems, networking opportunities, connections, and lasting friendships. I strongly recommend this program to a new College Library Director. There are still openings for the 2026 program. Please consider or encourage a new colleague to join the College Library Director Mentoring Program. The program, now in its 33nd year, is designed to enhance leadership capabilities of new college library directors, and to help them meet the unique challenges involved in directing libraries in small colleges. First year directors are assigned a mentor to listen and provide support throughout the year. There is also a series of webinars and a 3-day seminar in the spring. Topics are based on participants’ needs and may include planning, campus politics, and leadership issues. Applicants must be new directors at a small college library (fewer than 3500 undergraduate FTE with at least a 4-year degree program) and cannot have previously been a director at a small college library. Interim directors are not eligible. Additional information about qualifications and the application process is available on the Program website: https://acrl.ala.org/dirmentoring/ If you are interested in applying for the 2026-2027 cohort, please fill out the application form on the website: https://acrl.ala.org/dirmentoring/for-applicants/application-form Tuition is $1325 which includes mentor matching, 3 webinars, membership on a listserv of past participants, and a 3 day in person seminar. The deadline is August 1, 2026 - Extended. The cohort is limited to 15 participants. Because 2027 is an ACRL year, the 2027 cohort seminar will be in Portland, Oregon April 4th-7th host institution: University of Portland.
