Hey everyone! For National Library Week this April, I'm hoping that library staff are willing to share some pictures with me (with permission) that I can then share on MLA's social media! Good morning, I am looking to adjust my Employee Handbook policies to include a separate section about on-call Substitute Assistant Librarian training. Usually our subs are retired staff who are already trained, but I want a section in there in case I ever need to train someone who will solely be a substitute librarian assistant. I am looking for sample policies addressing training new employees as substitute librarians for anyone willing to share with me. B&T Bankruptcy: Summary and Filing Docs

All, This is the most definitive summary I've seen of the B&T situation. It includes the Chapter 11 filing petition and other related financial documents: [ https://www.wordsandmoney.com/bankruptcy-filing-offers-more-details-into-ba… | https://www.wordsandmoney.com/bankruptcy-filing-offers-more-details-into-ba… ] Here are some points/opinions that I believe to be relevant: ***Assets in the $1-10 million dollar range and liabilities in the $100-500 million range. This would seem to not bode well for the unsecured creditors, including libraries. ***Libraries are owed some $33 million. The two named libraries, one in FL and the other in SC, stand to take a huge hit. Also our smaller vendor Library Ideas, LLC (VOX Books, Freegal, etc.) ***The August, 2022 cyberattack was well known. We were aware of the second one in November, 2022 although B&T did not go out of its way to share that with its customers. ***This is the biggest library vendor related $$$ mess I've seen since [ https://www.libraryjournal.com/story/rowecomfaxon-collapse-the-enron-of-the… | https://www.libraryjournal.com/story/rowecomfaxon-collapse-the-enron-of-the… ] Many of us who were active in the library vendor world and did business at that time with that particular vendor, like we did, lost sleep over that one, including the composer of this email. Fortunately the loss for my employer of that era, which happens to be same employer in the current era, was sleep only and not $$$. Cate's presentation was Detroit's Dynamite Dames: The Famous and Not-So-Famous Women Who Changed Detroit was engaging and fascinating, well researched and thought out, as well as informative and fun. Cate was engaging and personable, conversational and knowledgeable, and really gave life to the women that she discussed.
