Hello, We're really looking forward to hosting what I've been thinking of as an "Accessibility Double Feature" on Tuesday, April 7 at Library of Michigan! Michigan library staff are invited to gather with the Michigan Accessibility Services Roundtable for a meeting at Library of Michigan. Immediately following the meeting, Disability Network of Southwest Michigan will provide in-person training on "Affirming Supports for Autistic People". The meeting and training will be held in the Lake Michigan Room on LM's 4th Floor. Please register for the meeting or the training or both! Roundtable Meeting - 10 am - 10:45 am Join us for a gathering of the Accessibility Services Roundtable (ASR) at Library of Michigan. Led by Jen Taggart, Youth Services Department Head at Bloomfield Township Public Library, the ASR is a group of librarians and library & information science students in Michigan working with children, teens, and adults with disabilities. This roundtable was created in 2014 to discuss current accessibility resources, collection development, programming best practices, and educational opportunities for providing accessible services to library visitors and staff in the disability community. We will also discuss affirming ways to support Autistic sensory, movement, communication, executive function, and emotional needs. Presenter Max Hornick (they/them) is a Community Education Coordinator for Disability Network Southwest Michigan, where they have worked since 2018. They are a graduate of Western Michigan University, a Certified Nonprofit Professional, a certified Emotional CPR Practitioner, and a nationally certified ADA Coordinator. Posting SUMMARY: As part of the Adult Services team, the Technology Aide works under the guidance of the Head of Adult Services to assist patrons with a wide range of technology needs. This includes helping with tasks such as logging in to library computers, emailing, printing, scanning, completing online forms, and accessing wireless networks. The Technology Aide also helps patrons learn how to use the library's digital resources, including databases, eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming media. In addition to providing hands-on technology assistance, the Technology Aide helps monitor the library's public computer system, supports technology setup for library programs and events, and offers one-on-one help appointments for patrons learning new technology. Good morning, Library friends! The Invention Convention team at The Henry Ford are looking for volunteer judges for the state finals competition at The Henry Ford Museum on Saturday, April 25. I'm not sure when the registration window closes, but the first of two training sessions for volunteers to choose from is April 7, so it's coming up soon! From their flyers: What is Invention Convention Worldwide? Invention Convention Michigan is the state affiliate of Invention Convention Worldwide and provides Michigan students an interactive and interdisciplinary opportunity to use the invention process to create and pitch an original product at a statewide competition. This FREE K–12 invention education program inspires students to become problem-solvers, innovators and entrepreneurs. Through hands-on, real-world, project-based learning, students gain confidence and skills that last a lifetime. Invention Convention Michigan (ICM) is looking for individuals to serve as judges for its state finals competition, held at Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation on Saturday, April 25, 2026. ICM, an affiliate of Invention Convention Worldwide, brings together problem-solvers, inventors and entrepreneurs of all ages, backgrounds and disciplines, and inspires our students to become the next generation of innovators. For the state competition, we need passionate volunteers to be judges who will evaluate and score inventions created by students to solve everyday problems.
