The City of Sterling Heights is seeking a part-time Librarian with a teen focus who is committed to the mission of the Sterling Heights Public Library and capable of providing excellent library services and programming to patrons! Hourly pay starts at $28.6171/hr Pay increases every six (6) months and annually on July 1st Generous schedule of Paid Time Off (PTO) 457 Investment options Position Summary The Part Time Librarian position reports to the Public Service Coordinator and is responsible for reference and readers advisory services, collection development activities, and instruction in the use of the library and its resources. The Part Time Librarian also develops and presents programs, and provides a high level of customer service to all library patrons. The Public Library is currently seeking a Part Time Librarian with a teen focus! Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in Library Science *Consideration will be given to candidates currently enrolled in a Master of Library and Information Science program, obtaining their MLIS within 6 months Strong oral and written communication skills Knowledge to create and conduct programs for patrons of all ages Ability to work evening and weekend work schedule Knowledge of online databases, reference resources, and public computer applications to assist the general public Experience with Polaris LEAP automation system Knowledge of popular teen reading trends Knowledge of tablet and mobile devices and the ability to help patrons use them to access Overdrive, Hoopla, and other digital services Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the general public Applications must be submitted by 5:00pm on Monday, July 21, 2025. Free to a good home - handmade "chimney"

Is anyone interested in taking this handmade "chimney" that was used as a prop in a couple of all-day library programs and was even used by the City at Christmas? I believe the chimney cap can be removed. The chimney measures 24" per side & 62" tall. It is heavy, however two people could lift it. It was in a corner of the library's basement and I need to rehome or recycle it by July 21.
