Please excuse any cross-posting, but just a friendly reminder that the Annual TLN Youth & Teen Performer's Showcase is this Friday! The Performer Showcase will be held at* Orion Township Public Library on Friday, October 11, 2024.* *We will have two sessions: a youth session from 9:30 AM- 12:00 PM and a teen session from 1:30-4:00 PM*. Each performer will have 10 minutes to present their program. Librarians will have time to circulate and pick up your contact/promotional materials at the end of each session. As the Team Leader for the Archives, the Librarian – Archives & Reference Services ensures timely processing of newly donated materials, organization of existing materials, and access to materials as requested by employees of Mott Community College and community members. Good afternoon all, Our Library Board was looking for information about the Quickbooks Online version that Techsoup has for public libraries for $80.00 per year. Has anyone used it and has it worked for you? Does it have the capability for payroll for direct deposit, paying taxes, and ACH capability and do they charge extra for that? We will cover what it means to be accessible, common adaptations you can make to creative tools and materials, and how you can be flexible and inclusive in your approach to planning arts experiences for a diverse community. Stephanie Haines is the Arts Education & Accessibility Program Manager at the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC). Stephanie oversees the IAC's arts education research project Partnering Arts, Communities, and Education (PACE) as well as Poetry Out Loud, Indiana State Poet Laureate program, and Creative Aging programming statewide. Stephanie served as chair of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) Arts Education Working Group (AEWG) 2019 - 2020. She is also the agency's accessibility coordinator handling all ADA compliance procedures and leading an Accessibility in the Arts Advisory Committee. Stephanie earned a Master of Arts degree in arts administration from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in visual art education from the University of Indianapolis. She has more than 15 years of experience working with teaching artists and arts integration programming, with specialties in professional development and artist lesson planning. Stephanie is a visual artist primarily in the mediums of painting and drawing. Excellent Presenter: The Kalamazoo Book Arts Center

On Wednesday evening, they came in with materials for 12 patrons and taught them how to bind their own journals, then create a stamp to decorate it with. It was engaging for everyone and a fun event. JOB TITLE: Branch Librarian - Flint Township REPORTS TO: Branch Operations Manager CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt; Union position HOURS: Full-Time (40 hours per week) Mon, Wed 10-6; Tues, Thurs 12-8; Fri closed; Sat 9-5; Sun closed Salary: $24.50/hr. Deadline: Until Filled The Genesee District Library is seeking a full-time, energetic, team-oriented Branch Librarian with a strong commitment to serving the public. We are the third largest library system in Michigan and an award-winning system of 19 branches. We are in the lower peninsula and have over 120 employees. GDL offers full time employees a Health Care Savings Program (HCSP), 403(b), 401(a) and 457 Supplemental Savings. Responsibilities include: Manage the operations of the branch and meet the needs of our patrons. Supervise staff assigned to the branch and keep them updated with new procedures. Answer reference questions and provide adequate information to patrons. Partner with area schools and other agencies to promote collections and services offered to children and young adults. Build strong community bonds by working with community leaders. Handle patron complaints with good judgment. Selecting and ordering books for the branch. Market the library by developing and/or assisting with public service-oriented programming. Prepare required reports to the Branch Operations Manager monthly. Lifelong learner with an interest in new library services and trends. Requirements for the position include: Master's Degree in Library or Information Science from an American Library Association accredited library school. A minimum of a Level 2 certification by the Library of Michigan within ninety (90) days of hire. Strong proficiency with electronic databases, Microsoft Office applications, social networking sites and mobile technology. Ability to get along with diverse personalities and populations. Ability to work as a team or independently within a fast-paced environment. Will be required to: Work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours, around programs and events. Work Environment: The location of the work site is in Flint Township, MI located in Genesee County. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet and work is performed indoors. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid driver's license and must have insured vehicle for use on Library business.
