Sessions will focus on leveling up your leadership skills, best practices for serving your community, and how to best support your team. Keynote Speaker - Kyle Lukoff Kyle Lukoff is the author of many books for young readers. His debut middle-grade novel, Too Bright To See, received a Newbery honor, the Stonewall award, and was a National Book Award finalist. His picture book When Aidan Became A Brother also won the Stonewall, and his book Call Me Max has been banned in schools across the country. He is the recipient of the 2025 Children’s Literature Lecture award, and has forthcoming books for all ages on a variety of topics. While becoming a writer he worked as a bookseller for ten years, and then nine more years as a school librarian. Upcoming Program at Novi Public Library

Hi All! I wanted to let you know about an upcoming program at Novi Library that is being put on by a high school (student-run) activist group called Dear Asian Youth Novi. This program is about the importance of voting and offers teens the opportunity to register (or preregister) to vote. It will feature 2 speakers from the American Citizens for Justice (ACJ). Story Time Bags - Question

Hello Library Land, I recently have been put in charge of building up our story time bag collection, and recently have noticed the bags we purchase do not hold up well. There are puncture holes (large and small) from our hardcover picture books - there are always 2 hardcover books in every bag. Upcoming Author Panel Event in East Lansing

Good morning! I wanted to alert this list to an upcoming event happening in East Lansing later this month. Michigan Humanities will be hosting a Great Michigan Read Author Reunion, featuring Beth Nguyen, Kevin Boyle, Steve Luxenberg, Kekla Magoon, Dr. Mona Hanna, Mary Doria Russell, and Angeline Boulley. In a conversation moderated by Bill Castanier, these authors will come together to discuss the ways that literature is critical to building empathy and understanding. This event takes place October 24, 6:30 p.m., at the Pasant Theatre at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts in East Lansing. A book signing with the featured authors will follow the panel conversation; Schuler Books will be on site with copies for purchase. This event will also serve as the announcement of the 10th Great Michigan Read title. Admission to this event is free, but registration is required.
