The Oak Park Public Library has a great opportunity for those looking to make a difference in the lives of teens, earn youth-related experience, and participate in a partnership with Oak Park Public Schools. The Oak Park Public Library is uniquely situated directly across from the High School and is looking for a Teen Programming Assistant to engage with after-school teens in a positive way through activities, talks, book groups, art projects, movies, games, and other fun events. The library currently has ongoing programs scheduled with the school and through a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council to help enrich the lives of teens who, often, stay after school for hours waiting for transportation home. The position pays $15.00/hour and the hours are Mon-Thur 2:00 or 3:00 - 6:00 and Friday 2:00 or 3:00 - 5:00. Libraries with Art Galleries - policy and complaints

I'm curious about what policies other libraries have about their art gallery spaces. Do you have an official art gallery policy? (will you share it with me?) How do you cover what can/cannot be on display? What do you do in the event of a complaint? Do you handle this in the same manner as your material request for reconsideration? Backstory: One gallery is right outside of our Youth Services Department and I received a phone call from a concerned parent regarding a painting on display. It is a side lying woman who is nude, but it's very abstract. A shadowy outline, you see a lot 'more' at the beach if you know what I mean... I don't feel that it is in appropriate for display, even in that gallery space. And, she wasn't really interested in making a big deal of it. However, this did make me think that we should probably have a policy in place and some kind of process to follow. I'm grateful for anything you all could share! Thanks all! Little Free Library Marcy Simons, Organizational Development Librarian, University of Notre Dame During the global pandemic, libraries have seen a continuation and extension of their role as "second responders" in their communities-providing information, services and resources to their users in light of events that affect their populations. ALAO seeks submissions for the "Libraries and the Second Responder Role" volume that delve beyond examples and case studies to examine the how libraries integrate within and serve their communities during times of need from the library management perspective. Proposals in the following areas would be of particular interest * Emergency preparedness and disaster planning * Assessment and data driven decision making during times of change * Transformation and Covid with a focus on voluntary and positive change * Responses to climate change * DEI and facing community challenges * Effects of challenges on marginalized communities * Building community partnerships for disaster and emergency response This will be the first volume of Advances in Library Administration and Organization (ALAO) to publish in 2023. About the Advances in Library Administration and Organization series ALAO<http://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/products/books/series.htm?id=0732-0671> offers long-form research, comprehensive discussions of theoretical developments, and in-depth accounts of evidence-based practice in library administration and organization. The series answers the questions, "How have libraries been managed, and how should they be managed?" It goes beyond a platform for the sharing of research to provide a venue for dialogue across issues, in a way that traditional peer reviewed journals cannot. Through this series, practitioners can glean new approaches in challenging times and collaborate on the exploration of scholarly solutions to professional quandaries.
