Hi everyone, hoping a youth service staff member can help us out. We received two copies of the book Negative Cat by Sophie Blackall. Both copies are upside down inside, even the end papers. I re-read the reviews, nothing about a stylistic choice to print the book upside down. Before we go to the vendor, just wanted to make sure this is not intentional. This year's Great Michigan Read book is "The Women of the Copper Country," by Mary Doria Russell. Tune into the event for a conversation between the author and Michigan Humanities Board Member, Paul Chaffee. The event will conclude with a Q&A session and kick-off the fall virtual author tour. Call for Michigan Activity Pass (MAP) Focus Group

Hello Michigan Libraries, The return of MAP this year has seen a great increase in participation, especially with the addition of the Metroparks system. We are happy that the system continues to get use and provides access to the Michigan public, through your libraries, to museums, parks, and other venues. The Library Network is planning on a revision of the MAP software this fiscal year and as we begin planning we would like to get your input about MAP and the software that enables the program. Anyone that is interested is invited to attend a one-hour focus group via Zoom, at 1 p.m. on October 19 (two weeks from today). Vegan Cooking Program with White Lake Township Library

On October 18th at 6:30 pm the White Lake Township Library will be partnering with Chive Kitchen in Farmington Hills to host a Vegan Cooking event for our Teen patrons. This program is open for Teens 6th-12th Grade and will be hosted virtually. If you could share with your teen patrons that would be amazing! Performs year round upkeep of library grounds through picking up trash, cutting grass, care of shrubbery and plantings, raking leaves, shoveling of snow and treating parking lots and sidewalks. Performs minor repairs inside/outside the library. Experience: This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. One year of facilities/maintenance experience in a related building. Schedule: 25 hours per week, primarily on nights, mornings and weekends. Occasionally will be required to work a day shift during the week. Union: Westland Library Union SEIU Local 517M (Non-Supervisory) Salary: Starts at $17.50 per hour Benefits: Prorated vacation leave, personal leave and paid holidays for employees working 20 or more hours per week.
