Hello - the Library of Michigan has free materials we are offering to the library community. To take advantage of this opportunity, see the information below and the attached spreadsheet. Feel free to forward this message to other library groups or listservs within Michigan. Content and condition The titles listed are extra copies of fiction and non-fiction (hard and soft cover) books submitted to the Michigan Notable Books program over the last year and either contain Michigan content and/or were written by a Michigan author. Also available are some used Michigan government documents and other miscellaneous titles. How to request Please submit requests by email (respond to this message). If you are local or passing through, you are welcome to schedule a time to select and claim materials on-site from 8am-5pm, Mon.-Fri. Some or all of the materials you request may no longer be available at the point we receive your email. Only requests for which we can supply NO materials will receive an email response. If you are not in the RIDES system, we can ship via UPS and will ship free for materials costing up to $20.00 per institution until/unless the funding is exhausted. This position provides oversight and direction of the city's Library & Cultural Arts Department. Under general policy direction, this position plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates library and cultural arts programs; performs professional library work; and performs related administrative responsibilities as required. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (1) planning, organizing and directing the city's library, cultural arts and historic preservation programs; (2) developing, recommending, and implementing department policies and procedures; (3) managing staff through other supervisors, setting goals and objectives; selecting, training and motivating staff; assessing performance and making salary recommendations; (4) representing the Library & Cultural Arts Department in the community and at professional meetings as required; and (5) coordinating department related activities with other city departments, divisions, and outside agencies. tech-logic for self-checkout

Hello Everyone, We have had Bibliotheca rfid and self-check for several years; purchased as 3M. The ongoing maintenance costs are getting prohibitive and keep us from getting a 2nd self-check. I have an appt with the Tech-Logic rep at PLA this week and am looking for input from those who have used them. Who among you uses tech-logic? What has been your experience for upfront costs and long-term maintenance? How is their customer service once in place? And if you have switched from 3M/Bibliotheca what your opinion of the difference? Feel free to message me directly and I will distribute a summary to the listserv later. Six host communities will have the opportunity to host the exhibit rent-free for six weeks. When American revolutionaries waged a war for independence they took a leap of faith that sent ripple effects across generations. They embraced a radical idea of establishing a government that entrusted the power of the nation not in a monarchy, but in its citizens. That great leap sparked questions that continue to impact Americans: who has the right to vote, what are the freedoms and responsibilities of citizens, and whose voices will be heard? Voices and Votes: Democracy in America will be a springboard for discussions about those very questions and how they are reflected in local stories. Voices and Votes is based on a major exhibition currently on display at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. This Museum on Main Street adaptation will have many of the same dynamic features: historical and contemporary photos; educational and archival video; engaging multimedia interactives with short games and additional footage, photos, and information; and historical objects like campaign souvenirs, voter memorabilia, and protest material. Request for Sample RFP for moving services

We are getting ready to renovate our facility in the near future. Unfortunately, we will need to move part of our service to a temporary location, and will also have several major internal shifts to facilitate project phasing. I know there was a thread on moving companies back in November, but does anyone have a copy of an issued RFP for moving services or similar document?
