Visit the Public Library area and look for Career Preparation to connect. eBooks about different careers are available, ranging from allied health and culinary arts to teaching and career information for veterans. You will also find information about changing careers, effective resume writing, and strong interview skills along with a resource about how to accept a job and negotiate a salary. If you have patrons who have already decided what path is for them, they may benefit from some test preparation. The Career Preparation center offers all sorts of practice tests from air traffic controller and commercial driver's license tests to cosmetology and real estate tests. Leaners have the choice of 3 different test-taking modes: 1. Learner: View the answers as you go along to help with studying. 2. Practice: See answer explanations after the practice test is complete. If the test if timed, the timer will display but will not be enforced. 3. Simulation: The practice test will stop when the timer is up. Instruction-related duties include one-shot instruction sessions for WRT 1060, a freshman composition course. Part-time librarians also assist with special projects as assigned. Inside some of our buildings, especially in rural areas, we've had spotty or even non-existent cellular signals. Recently, one of our branches had voices concerns about being unable to make an emergency call from inside a library building on their cell phone. Or even just getting and making calls. One of the proposed solutions from the township's city manager was installing an extender--basically a micro cell tower--inside the building. The problems with that are: 1. The extender only supports one specific carrier. 2. It uses the library's Internet connection. 3. Other users with devices from the same carrier could use the extender. Another possibility is using a signal booster, such as one from WeBoost. The ones they sell are carrier agnostic, plug-and-play and will work with multiple carriers at the same time, but: 1. Depending on how the external antenna is aimed, it will prioritize the strongest cell tower signal first. So there's no guarantee that it would work with everything consistently. 2. You have to register the booster with the carrier (though it's stated that most carriers approve of them anyway). 3. A bit more expensive than an extender. I personally have no experience with signal boosters or cellular in general. My question is: Has anyone used a signal booster or have some similar solution to improve cellular signals inside a building? Thanks. -- John A. Include.* *Position: Support Services Shelver, Permanent Part-Time* *Primary Duties & Responsibilities:* 1. Sorts and loads carts for shelving; shelves and shifts materials in the public areas; shelf reads; reports problems with shelf organization to the Support Services Supervisor. 2. Assists with opening and closing procedures for the Support Services Department. 3. Assists with the overall maintenance and orderliness of the Library’s collections, display areas, and department areas. 4. Assists other Support Services staff with operations of the ILS module and the AST system. 5. Directs guests to Reference staff for assistance. *Other Duties & Responsibilities:* 1. Assists Librarians with special projects with the approval of the Support Services Supervisor. 2. Adapts and responds to multiple priorities, interruptions, and demands and resolves problem situations in a positive manner. 3. Assists in accomplishing the Library’s and the Support Service Department’s goals. 4. Enforces library policies relevant to public use; responds to emergencies and provides support, as needed; acts quickly, exercising good judgment. 5. Works positively and collaboratively across departments to accomplish department goals. 6. Performs other duties as assigned. *Job Requirements:* 1. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2. Knowledge of alphabetical, numerical and decimal systems of arrangement. 3. Proficient in MS Office, Internet browsers, and other computer related technology. 4. ADL Closed Due to Weather on Wednesday, February 26

Albion District Library will be closed on Wednesday, February 26, due to hazardous weather. Our scheduled Brown Bag, History Speaker Series, and GED Tutoring Program events will not meet. As of 11:24pm Tuesday, the National Weather Service is forecasting snow and limited visibility, with worsening conditions into the afternoon and evening hours, and advises avoiding travel if at all possible.
