It's in great condition. It's a large book with "pages" that open with a built-in white board and felt board, plus storage. It measures approximately 7 1/4' (W) x 8 1/3 ' (H) x 2' (D). TADL Eliminates Overdue Fines for Children’s and Young Adult materials.

Effective immediately, the Traverse Area District Library (TADL) will no longer charge fines on overdue children’s and teen items. In an important move to support literacy and equity, the TADL Board of Trustees unanimously approved the elimination of overdue fines for Juvenile and Young Adult materials. Eliminating overdue fines on youth and teen items will increase library access for children, teens, and families. Research has shown that overdue fines are ineffective as a way to motivate people to return books on time, but instead create a barrier for children and families to use the library. TADL Board of Trustees Vice President, Micheal Vickery, hopes that the elimination of overdue fines for youth and teen items will encourage some conversations at home about responsible stewardship of common resources. “Library materials are a shared community resource, so our goal is to encourage patrons to return overdue materials and to continue using the incredible resources of the district libraries,” said Vickery. “We don’t want young patrons to lose access to the value of the libraries just because an item they’ve checked out is overdue.” As a part of this change, past fines currently owed for late Juvenile and Young Adult materials will be forgiven. Youth and Teen materials will still have due dates, and as always, patrons will be responsible to return books on time and to pay for replacement costs if an item is lost or destroyed. The Wacky Wizard – A Creative Approach to Storytelling As The Wacky Wizard, Todd Avery (award-winning educator, director, and actor) uses creative dramatics and storytelling to explore existing literature and guide participants in developing their own stories. Patricia Headley joins Library of Michigan Foundation as Chief Development Officer

The Library of Michigan Foundation announced today that Patricia (Tricia) Headley has joined the organization as the Chief Development Officer. As the Chief Development Officer, Tricia will guide the Foundation’s development efforts on a statewide basis to support the goals of the Library of Michigan. The Foundation, which was established in 1985, has raised over 6 million dollars to support enhanced programs across Michigan for increased literacy and resource sharing programs. Dan Arbour, President of the Library of Michigan Foundation, stated, “We are delighted to have Tricia joining our organization after conducting a national search for this position. Her vast experience and knowledge of working across the state of Michigan, most recently with the Children’s Trust organization in Lansing Michigan, has given her a tremendous network of support coming to her new role. We are extremely pleased that Tricia has joined the Foundation to work across the state to help build stronger programs for literacy and library support.” Randy Riley, State Librarian of Michigan, noted: “Tricia has been an outstanding leader within the state for developing innovative programs and support for the Children’s Trust charity and we look forward to her engaging with the library community statewide to further our efforts to support lifelong learning. The Foundation enhances our educational and resource sharing initiatives, and Tricia will provide a critical engagement role in working with the community we serve” Tricia Headley commented, “the Library of Michigan plays such a pivotal role in providing statewide service to the every corner of the state with key programs for public, academic and school libraries and resource centers. I look forward to building upon the successful history of the Foundation to expand efforts for literacy and library support at the local level.” As the Chief Development officer, Tricia will seek partnerships with all the Friends of Libraries groups and local development organizations to enhance state and local programs serving our communities.
