Leveled Readers Questions
by Danielle Hays 12 Oct '22

12 Oct '22

Hello, everyone! We've been having some issues with organizing our leveled reader nonfiction books— we've found that since the books are so small, the call numbers can't fit on the spines and it becomes a chore to find or shelve books in the section because you have to pull each book out fully to see the whole number. I'd love to hear how your library handles this section! Do you stick with Dewey numbers or section it off differently? Do you also have difficulties with this section? Thanks in advance for your responses! -- *Danielle Hays* She/Her/Hers Librarian Brandon Township Public Library 304 South St Ortonville, MI 48462 *ENGAGE • EDUCATE • ENRICH • EMPOWER*

Duplicate book for sale
by ML Tamarack Circulation 12 Oct '22

12 Oct '22

We have a few extra copies of the new book "T he Ones Who Remember: Second-Generation Voices of the Holocaust" The books provides a window into the lived experience of sixteen different families grappling with the legacy of genocide. Each author reveals the many ways their parents’ Holocaust traumas and survival seeped into their souls and then affected their subsequent family lives – whether they knew the bulk of their parents’ stories or nothing at all. Several of the contributors’ children share interpretations of the continuing effects of this legacy with their own poems and creative prose. Despite the diversity of each family's history and journey of discovery, the intimacy of the collective narratives reveals a common arc from suffering to resilience, across the three generations. This book offers a vision of a shared humanity against the background of inherited trauma that is relatable to anyone who grew up in the shadow of their parents’ pain. This book is ours for our discounted price of $17 this is a trade paperback. Please send me your Rides number and I will send book and invoice in delivery! Fyi this was an amazing book talk/question and answer program, if you would like further information to host a couple of the authors of the book please reach out to us and we will share the information! Digital Inclusion Program Inventory -Survey from the Michigan High Speed Internet Office
by White, Shannon (MDE) 11 Oct '22

11 Oct '22

Many of you may have heard that the State of Michigan has created the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office. We are supporting their work as they begin to gather data. Join Michigan's Digital Inclusion Inventory<https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/5f335f934fd049dead669d712b282d5f> As you may be aware, the state of Michigan recently created the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Furl.email…> (MIHI), with a goal of becoming more intentional about closing the digital divide. This goal aligns with a recommendation of the 2021 Michigan Poverty Task Force<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Furl.email…> report and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which dedicated resources towards this goal. MIHI has been tasked with leading Michigan's digital equity efforts, but it needs the help of institutions like yours. MIHI wants to foster greater cooperation and sharing of information among organizations that engage in digital inclusion activities across Michigan, such as digital skills training, public computer access, public- Wi-Fi, helping people sign up for the Affordable Connectivity Program, etc. MIHI wants to raise awareness of these services, share ideas, and encourage collaboration for advancing digital inclusion in Michigan. MIHI requests that you follow this link<https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/5f335f934fd049dead669d712b282d5f> and complete a brief survey about your organization's current digital inclusion activities. Please consider sharing this email with other affiliated organizations that also support digital inclusion. This information will ultimately be included in an online resource to help Michigan communities address the digital divide. This will serve as a resource so that communities can share best practices. The survey can be found at https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/5f335f934fd049dead669d712b282d5f. Over the next 12 months, MIHI will engage with stakeholders across Michigan to inform the development of a state digital equity plan. Subsequently, it will look to active digital equity and inclusion partners to continue, create, or scale up digital inclusion activities using funding from the Digital Equity Act. Please fill out the survey to begin the journey!<https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/5f335f934fd049dead669d712b282d5f> Eric Frederick Chief Connectivity Officer Michigan High-Speed Internet Office LEO-MIHighSpeedInternet(a)michigan.gov<mailto:LEO-MIHighSpeedInternet@michigan.gov> Shannon White Library Development Manager Library of Michigan, 702 W.
