Program recommendation: Tobin Buhk, MI true crime author
by David Stokes 10 Nov '22

10 Nov '22

Hello there, Last night we hosted Michigan true crime author Tobin Buhk for one of his recent publications* Cold Case Michigan*. We'd had Tobin before, back in March 2019 before the pandemic, and he was well received on both occasions. I know many of you have hosted him before, but if you have not he is very informative, knowledgeable and a great public speaker. David M. Stokes Adult Services Librarian Adult Services Dept. New MAP Partner: Sloan Museum of Discovery
by Jim Flury 09 Nov '22

09 Nov '22

Good Afternoon, I am pleased to announce that Sloan Museum of Discovery in Flint has joined the Michigan Activity Pass program! Perhaps more accurately, re-joined MAP. I say that because Sloan Museum was a long-time MAP partner destination, prior to their building closure and relocation to temporary quarters while the museum underwent a $30 million renovation and expansion, as well as a name change to Sloan Museum of Discovery. The newly renovated and re-named Sloan Museum of Discovery opened to the public on July 16, 2022. Sloan Museum of Discovery is providing a very generous offer to our MAP patrons: "Use Promo Code MAP to receive Free General Admission to Sloan Museum of Discovery, which includes all primary gallery spaces. Special traveling exhibits are not included with this offer of free general admission." Welcome (back) to MAP, Sloan Museum of Discovery! Thank you for your support and promotion of the Michigan Activity Pass program. Sincerely, Jim Flury Jim Flury Technical Services Manager The Library Network 41365 Vincenti Court Novi, MI 48375 248-536-3100, ext 133 Note New Fax Number: 248-716-5584 Note New Email Address:jflury@tln.org

Congratulation emails
by Laura Hauch 09 Nov '22

09 Nov '22

Congratulations to all the libraries that had their millages pass! On that note, can we please not reply to the listserv when congratulating libraries or individuals for something they posted on michlib? Please just reply to that person or email account. The whole list doesn't need extra emails to check. This is included in the michlib-l best practices: "Efficiency - Be mindful of whether your reply needs to go to the entire list. Short responses that don't add to the overall discussion (Example: Congratulations! I agree! Thanks!) can be sent directly to the original poster." Thank you for being considerate of those with far too many emails in their inbox, Laura Hauch Collection and IT Coordinator Buchanan District Library 128 East Front Street Buchanan, MI 49107 269-695-3681 269-695-0004 Fax www.buchananlibrary.org<http://www.buchananlibrary.org>
