Hello Michlib! My library is looking to start an off-site book club that meets either at a restaurant, bar, or coffee shop. If you or your library hosts a book club like this, would you mind answering some questions? * How did you decide where to have off-site book club meetings? Do you go to the same venue for each meeting? * Is there any cost to your library associated with using a venue? * How often do you meet? * How did you advertise? * How was attendance when you first started out? * How do you choose the titles? Hi all, Last week, we hosted Tammie Rain Hayes from Houghton Lake for a unique and relaxing sound healing meditation program, and it was fantastic. Tammie brings all of her own instruments, including gongs, drums, tuning forks, chimes, and singing bowls, plus cozy tapestries, blankets, and pillows to make the space extra relaxing. We encouraged participants to bring their own yoga mat, blanket, pillow, etc. During the program, she shared some insightful benefits about how sound heals, but the majority of the time was spent quietly lying on our yoga mats, while Tammie came around and gave individualized attention to each person with each instrument. After the session, those who wanted could share their experience with the group. We had a wonderful turnout, lots of young people ages 25-45, which is a demographic I love to get into library programs. Tammie was great to work with, and the passion she has for this work shows throughout the experience. If you're looking to provide a similar library program for your community, I highly recommend Tammie! Program recommendation: Turn the Page-The Bob Seger Story

Hello there, Last night we hosted Dr. Edward S. Balian, author of the only biography (so far) on Detroit's own Bob Seger: *Turn the Page: The Bob Seger Story.* Dr. Balian was very entertaining, informative & knowledgeable on his subject. He brought along a portable turn-table and played some Seger albums while he & his wife set-up for their program. He even gave out little prizes throughout his presentation for those attendees able to correctly answer his trivia questions. Ed's band used to open for Seger in the 60s in and around the Detroit area, so his knowledge of the local music scene (e.g. venues, local record labels, etc.) is extensive--and first-hand as well. (Ed. & Bob Seger also had the same entertainment attorney for 40 years--and often crossed paths that way.) Based in Northville, Ed is currently wrapping up his presentations for the fall, but is expected to be back out on the road in April 2023 if anyone is interested in booking him. David M.
