Circulation of Vox Books with IR Glasses question (Word doc with Library Responses attached)
by Alicia Ford 23 Aug '23

23 Aug '23

Hi all, Hello, I saw another library asking about how they processed their Vox Books, and it reminded me that I needed to compile all the responses from libraries who reached out with descriptions and photos of how they circulated and packaged specifically the Vox Books with the IR Goggles. There were many different suggestions, from Velcro and rubber bands, to special drawstring or hanging bags, with additional tips and tricks. Several people reached out to me directly to see if I could email them back with the responses, as they were in the same boat with questions on how to process these Vox Books with goggles, so I thought it would be easiest to share here for everyone to be able to access that same info. Thanks to all those who took the time to reach out to share how they were circulating these! Alicia Ford Assistant Director Coloma Public Library 151 W. Center St. P.O. Box 430 Coloma, MI 49038 (269) 468-3431 From: Alicia Ford <alicia(a)colomapubliclibrary.net> Sent: Tuesday, August 15, 2023 12:30 PM To: 'michlib-l(a)mcls.org' <michlib-l(a)mcls.org> Subject: Circulation of Vox Books with IR Glasses question Hello, We recently received 4 IR Vox books with interactive, reusable goggles in one of the collections of Vox books (High Interest readers) shipped this summer by Library of Michigan to requesting libraries (see attached pic for reference). As these are our first talking books with IR goggles, I wondered if anyone already circulating these would be willing to share how they were doing so? Anyone have to purchase special bags to hold both the goggles and the Vox book? I can be emailed off-list at alicia(a)colomapubliclibrary.net <mailto:alicia@colomapubliclibrary.net> . Thanks so much, Alicia Ford Assistant Director Coloma Public Library 151 W. Center St. P.O. Box 430 Coloma, MI 49038 (269) 468-3431

Join our Life-Long Readers Circle Today!
by Winans, Megan (MDE-Contractor) 23 Aug '23

[A row of books Description automatically generated with medium confidence] We know you love libraries. And it's no secret that libraries have been under fire lately, despite their importance in each community they serve. This means your support is needed now more than ever. At the Library of Michigan Foundation, we raise funds to support the Library of Michigan's efforts to preserve our state's history, improve access to quality information at all libraries throughout our great state, and promote a life-long joy of reading. Each year we also celebrate authors with our Michigan Notable Books program, recognizing writers who are either from Michigan or who have written about our state. Their books are not only honored at our annual Night for Notables event in April, but a sizeable number of their creators participate in author tours to libraries throughout Michigan where they can further spark the joy of reading, encourage folks to discover more about the amazing state we live in, and inspire some to think about putting pen to paper. Could you consider making a $25 or more monthly recurring donation to the Library of Michigan Foundation for these wonderful annual author tours and become a valued member of the Library of Michigan Foundation Life-Long Joy of Reading Circle. To join our Circle, select "monthly" under "Donation Frequency" when making your gift through the foundation's donate page. <https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fgive-usa.keela.co%2Fnew-donati…> Also, don't forget to follow us on Facebook<https://u14608870.ct.sendgrid.net/ls/click?upn=BgVxgPTVr8k9UxUOWvlfqrA-2Fho…> (where even Barbie carves time out from her busy film promotional schedule to read and support literacy!)
