The Krause Memorial Branch of the Kent District Library in Rockford, MI, is looking for authors of children’s books to participate in Reading Rocks in Rockford on June 3, 2023. This is an annual event that celebrates reading and helps to kick off our summer reading program. Authors’ Row, a vital component of the festival, affords an opportunity for kids to chat with local authors and to purchase copies of their books. Our free Virtual Dialogues aren’t a webinar or workshop, but instead are an opportunity for librarians and library workers at all levels and in all library types to talk about issues impacting their work. During the dialogue, we will spend time sharing thoughts, ideas, and insights with other participants. Because these are conversations and most learning will be done with peers in breakout rooms, sessions will not be recorded; we hope you can join us live. The Adult Librarian will provide reference and readers’ advisory services to patrons of all ages, coordinate, plan and conduct regular programming, including oversight of the adult programming budget, and investigate and implement makerspace innovations and practices in our Idea Lab and Library of Things. Query for Friends of the Library group

Hello - I recently joined my local library's Friends group (Orion Township) and am going to (attempt!) to assist with PR/Marketing efforts. I looked online but didn't come across an active list-serve or forum type environment to query public library friends group, so I am hopeful I can get some feedback this way. (FOML website seems to be defunct). If you have a moment to respond to the below - or find out the responses from your Friends group - I'd greatly appreciate it! 1. What type of email marketing service is your Friends of the Library utilizing to capture emails and market (ie Benchmark, Constant Contact, etc.) - and do you pay? We currently use Benchmark - free - but have been having many issues and are looking to possibly change. 2. What type of social media is your Friends of the Library group utilizing AND what medium have they seen the most success? They only have an active Facebook group currently.
