by bellairelibrary＠torchlake.com 06 Sep '23

06 Sep '23

We are planning a Festival of Stories throughout October, and am having a difficult time finding someone who could present a program on traditional storytelling. We do have funds for a stipend (Thanks to Michigan Humanities Council!) We are located in Northern Michigan just north of Traverse City, and can pay travel costs as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. -- Cindi L. Place, MLIS Director, Bellaire Public Library bellairelibrary(a)torchlake.com 231-533-8814

[A row of books Description automatically generated with medium confidence] We know you love libraries. And it's no secret that libraries have been under fire lately, despite their importance in each community they serve. This means your support is needed now more than ever. At the Library of Michigan Foundation, we raise funds to support the Library of Michigan's efforts to preserve our state's history, improve access to quality information at all libraries throughout our great state, and promote a life-long joy of reading. Each year we also celebrate authors with our Michigan Notable Books program, recognizing writers who are either from Michigan or who have written about our state. Their books are not only honored at our annual Night for Notables event in April, but a sizeable number of their creators participate in author tours to libraries throughout Michigan where they can further spark the joy of reading, encourage folks to discover more about the amazing state we live in, and inspire some to think about putting pen to paper. Could you consider making a $25 or more monthly recurring donation to the Library of Michigan Foundation for these wonderful annual author tours and become a valued member of the Library of Michigan Foundation Life-Long Joy of Reading Circle. To join our Circle, select "monthly" under "Donation Frequency" when making your gift through the foundation's donation page.<https://give-usa.keela.co/new-donation-form26> Also, don't forget to follow us on Facebook<https://u14608870.ct.sendgrid.net/ls/click?upn=BgVxgPTVr8k9UxUOWvlfqrA-2Fho…> where every Thursday we share a "throwback" notable author we love!
