The Charter Township of Commerce is hiring a Full Time Technology Specialist to join its Technology Department. The Technology Specialist will serve primarily as the Township’s Library Technology manager but will also have duties backing up IT support for other departments. Desired Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or proven experience in IT support and management in a library or municipal setting; In-depth knowledge of computer and network hardware, software and website management tools; Demonstrated knowledge of Windows 10/11; Excellent communication skills and positive public service commitment; Good collaboration skills; Demonstrated ability to use office productivity software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The Columbia Township Board of Trustees is seeking candidates for the position of Library Director of the Columbia Township Library. The Columbia Township Library is a Class I library located in Unionville, MI. The Library is a member of the White Pine Library Cooperative, and completed a $1.1 million remodel and expansion of its facilities in March 2021. This position is part-time, averaging 20 hours per week, no benefits, flexible schedule, relaxed atmosphere. We have a great staff of one Assistant Director, one Librarian, two Clerks and one Page. Not the girl from the books, and not the woman from the television - this is the real Laura Wilder. In this virtual presentation with Laura Keyes of Historic Voices you will hear the real history of Laura Ingalls Wilder, and discover the times, places, and people who inspired her wonderful books. The beloved Little House books are based on Laura's life, but they are fiction. This program explores the real life of Laura Ingalls Wilder with all its hardships and tragedies. Due to the seriousness of the subject matter, this program is most appropriate for ages 10 and older. Laura Keyes is the Director of the Dunlap Public Library in Central Illinois. Tobacco and Smoke free library grounds - does your policy include marijuana?

Hi all, Our board is considering making our grounds smoke and tobacco free. I also think we need to include marijuana in this... as we're seeing/smelling more of it all the time. Anyone have a policy that includes all combustibles, vaping, etc? I'd also like to address the rolling of cigarettes and other smoking substances. It's a problem from a mess standpoint, and there's a certain yuck factor to watching folks roll cigs in our magazine room... Thanks in advance for any responses! Statement of support for Michigan State University: [Text Description automatically generated] Today we are unable to find any consolation following the tragedy that occurred at Michigan State University last night. There is no justification for an indiscriminate attack on a college campus or at any other venue. As we struggle with processing this incomprehensible act of violence, we know this is a moment to collectively work to prevent devastating events like this in the future. We support the University's students, faculty, staff, and their families as we condemn this senseless violence. We are grateful to the heroic work of the first responders who helped save as many lives as possible. It is our shared responsibility to act now to see that our schools, colleges, libraries, and communities are safe from such acts.
