Hello All, I’m reaching out to learn more about your library’s experience with having a community garden. We are exploring the idea of developing a similar project at our library and would greatly value insights from libraries that have already implemented one. Specifically, I’m curious to know: * How has your community garden been working out overall? * Have you noticed any changes in community interest or participation over time (for example, has enthusiasm remained steady or started to wane)? * What do you see as the key benefits and challenges of maintaining the garden? * Have there been any unexpected outcomes or issues (positive or negative) that arose after starting the program? Reporting to an Authority Board of Directors representing five separate supporting municipalities, this individual will be a consensus builder, library advocate, and will present visionary executive functions while maintaining a strong presence and understanding of the day-to-day operations of a single 35,600 square foot location. With a large and talented staff of 48.02 FTE, the library circulates more physical items than any other Library in Allegheny County, eclipsing 1 million items in 2024. The Executive Director will lead Northland Public Library into the next era of community-driven success as it continues to grow and support the region. Northland Public Library was certified as a KultureCity Sensory Inclusive Venue in 2025 through a grant from the Allegheny County Library Association and has been awarded other state and local grants to provide funding support for a major building renovation and upgrades. The library serves both North Allegheny and North Hills school districts, and benefits from the support of an established and re-energized Library Foundation. I was surprised and disappointed that this email that I received this morning from the Governor said nothing about the role libraries, especially school libraries, play in making "every kid a strong reader." The survey that this announcement asks people to take also doesn't include libraries. I'm responding and adding a comment about their importance. Hello Libraryland! We have partnered with the team at Live Action Fun Factory to create an after-hours immersive experience for mystery-lovers. On Saturday November 8, guests ages 12+ will become part of the story, investigating a fictional cold case while asking the actors questions and unearthing clues around the Library itself. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. The event begins promptly at 6:00 pm, and due to the nature of the program, no late entry will be allowed.
