Teens' Top Ten A longstanding YALSA project, Teens' Top Ten<https://www.ala.org/yalsa/teenstopten> is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year. Nominators are members of teen book groups in 15 school and public libraries around the country. Readers ages 12 to 18 then vote online for the top 10. YALSA Update Speaking of YALSA, you have likely read by now that ALSC and YALSA, the ALA's two youth services divisions, plan to merge in 2026. Both divisions originally grew out of the Association of Young People's Librarians and have been separate divisions since 1957. Kids Count® Data Book - Michigan KIDS COUNT® indicators capture what children and youth need most across four domains: 1. Economic Well-Being; 2. Education; 3. Health; and 4. Family and Community. Among all four domains, Education saw the biggest decline - 3 out of 4 education indicators worsened since 2019. Peddlar's Cart - free to a good library or museum home

The Peddlar's Cart in the photos is free to a good library or museum home. The Friends of the Roseville Public Library purchased the Peddlar's Cart to use as a prop to promote the Friends and their activities in 1998 from the Otto Building Company in Burton, Michigan. The Friends stopped using it approximately 10 years ago and it has been in the Library's (dry) basement since. It is in good shape with some scarring on the white laminated surface. It has two small drawers and a cubby that lock (keys are are available) for storage. These carts from Otto Building were sold to other libraries across the country for the same "display" purpose including the Alexandrian Public Library in Indiana. I have a folder that includes the original invoice and blueprints for the cart. Measurements: length - 60" height to the top of the slatted canopy - 79" width - 28" The cart is very heavy and does not move easily, however you can move it short distances safely. The Friends rarely moved it from the lobby. I could not see a way to easily remove the four canopy supports and the canopy for transport. It may have to be transported in one piece. You must be able to move it into your vehicle as we may not always have assistance available. The blueprints and a copy of the invoice with the name of the manufacturer go with the cart. The Roseville Public Library building is currently being prepared for renovation and the cart must go in preparation for contractors to begin the demolition of the interior. If you would like the cart, it must be picked up by July 31. I'll send a message if/when the cart is claimed. Inclusive Libraries Virtual Conversation Group

Hello! I just wanted to share this invitation again to anyone who may be interested in learning about how to better serve patrons with disabilities as far as library programs go, although I suspect we will definitely discuss other library services, adaptations, tech, signage and other related topics as well. We intend to invite library staff and non-library staff, with and without disabilities, to share insight, resources, and experiences so that we may learn and enhance our understanding of the library experience for people with disabilities - and how to improve it. We've already met once and will be meeting again during the last week of this month. As far as I know, there are a few other professional meetings and some libraries already provide inclusive and disability-centered programs and resources. The American Library Association also has communities, discussion boards, and a workgroup if you have an ALA membership. I've accumulated a lot of information in a Google Sheet which anyone in this group will have access to and can also share resources in.
