For those interested or might know someone interested. Fruitport District Library (FDL) strives to connect people to the transforming power of knowledge. The Library Assistant will be one who is passionate about providing patrons with an excellent reading and educational adventure. General Summary: Oversees the circulation desk and circulation operations, assists patrons in person and on the telephone, performs technical and technological services, plans and performs outreach and programming, and other projects assigned by the director. Responsibilities: · Assists patrons in checking materials in and out, with questions about materials, accounts, and fines, and selecting new reading material based on patron interests · Assist patrons with technological questions, including use of the copy/fax machine and computers · Process interlibrary loans and shelving materials quickly and accurately · Assist in planning and running programming throughout the year for kids, teens, and adults including the Summer Reading Program, StoryWalk, and Mall Reads · Assisting the director in Outreach programs to local daycares, schools, and assisted living spaces · Perform other duties as assigned by the Library Director Job Requirements · Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with the public. · Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with other staff members. · Ability to learn and follow library policies and procedures. · Ability to accurately organize alphabetically and numerically. · Ability to count and handle money. · Ability to work with computers, computer applications, and on the Internet. · Ability to troubleshoot basic technological issues. · Ability to work both independently and under moderate supervision. · Ability to bend, reach, crouch, and occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds. Hi all, True crime author Tobin T. Buhk presented on Michigan's Most Dangerous Women. It was very fascinating and we will definitely have him back in the future. Here is the program description: Take a peek behind the walls of the old Detroit House of Correction, the only Michigan prison to house female inmates serving long-term sentences, and meet some of the most dangerous women in Michigan history: a serial poisoner who killed over a dozen because she wanted to don her black dress and attend the funerals; a woman who drowned her unwanted children, one by one, in a nearby river; a wife who used an ax to sever her marriage; and a con artist known as "Queen of the Underworld." The focus of this survey is to address: * The current status of Michigan community college librarians’ job flexibility * Perceptions of Michigan community college librarians regarding job flexibility * The relationship between job flexibility and job performance. What is the purpose of the survey: The purpose of this survey is to find out the current status of Michigan community college librarians' work-life-balance and job flexibility as an outcome of the Pandemic by sharing personal narratives and survey results. Your participation is very important to our presentation. Who can participate in the survey: Michigan community college librarians and administrators who currently work full-time and part-time. First, I wanted to say Thank you to everyone who replied yesterday to my question regarding children's books. I believe I receieved the exact answers I was looking for. 🙂 😺 Since everyone was so helpful yesterday, I have another question. This time regarding YA books. Everyone knows the issues we are facing throughout the country and YA books always seem to be at the forefront because of their content and an issue when it comes to where they are placed in the Library... So, my question is... Where do you have your YA books located in your library? Or do you have them intergrated into your Adult sections? If they are intergrated into your Adult sections, do you have them labeled as YA still? Again, thank you everyone. I look forward to your responses.
