Since 1994, the award has been given to 222 institutions that exemplified extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service. "The IMLS National Medal is our nation's highest honor for libraries and museums. The medal recognizes institutions that are cultivating meaningful relationships with their communities that help meet critical needs, achieve shared aspirations, and amplifying local history and community memory" said IMLS Acting Director Cyndee Landrum. "We urge the public to nominate the libraries and museums that have made a difference in their family or community for the 2025 National Medal and help us shine a light on these incredible institutions." The National Medal recognizes outstanding libraries and museums of any type and size. We have one for physical items but not digital and wonder what best practices are. If you do, could you share that with me? I can compile the information and share it if others are interested. 3Doodler Start Filament

Hi all, A while ago, we got a 3Doodler Start as a donation and we added it to our collection as a STEM Kit. But both of the pens have now broken and it hasn't seen a whole lot of use so we decided to weed it. But we have 8 packets of the filament still remaining so if anyone has the 3Doodler Start, we'd happily send you some refills. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting in budget preparation, and ensuring the efficient financial operation of the library. Key Responsibilities: * Financial record keeping * Accounts payable and receivable * Financial reporting * Budget support * Audit and compliance * Grants and fund management * Administrative support Qualifications: * Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. * Experience: * Minimum of 1 year of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and commensurate experience will be considered. * Experience in a non-profit or public sector environment is a plus. * Skills and Abilities: * Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Good communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Basic knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Work Environment * Office environment within the library. * Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. Volunteer Screening

We have been receiving an abundance of applications from folks who want to volunteer at the library, which is great! But because we only have so many things volunteers can help with, we are finding we need to be more selective. Not to mention, having a more formal screening process would probably be beneficial. Can you give me insight into your library process for taking on volunteers? - What kind of application/screening process do you use to choose your volunteers? - Do you have them complete a shelving test? - Do you require an in-person interview? - Is your process the same for both adults and teenagers? - What jobs do you give the teens to do? - Are most of your volunteers on a regular schedule or do you call them as needed?
