Library Assistant, Youth Services (part-time) Under the supervision of the Youth Services Librarian, this position performs a variety of duties and responsibilities that assists in the smooth and efficient operation of the library; plans library programs for infants, toddlers, youth, and teens; provides readers advisory and informational assistance to all ages; assists in maintaining the youth section of the library; assists with community and school outreach; assists as requested in other areas of the library. The Advanced E-rate Training session is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29,2013<http://www.solutionwhere.com/lom/cw/showcourse.asp?40> and will be held at the Library of Michigan. Linda Schatz will lead attendees through updates provided by the SLD. The workshop will focus on procurement and the Form 471 along with other information needed to submit an application. This workshop follows up on the information provided in the June Basic E-rate workshop held in June and will focus on higher-level issues that are encountered during the application process. This PDF is from a presentation made by the Michigan Consumers for Healthcare recently. For those interested in finding partners in their communities I've highlighted some of the pages within the file that may be of help. For those that would like to find a local partner to invite to present a session or to help provide information to patrons I would take a look at the specific pages listed below to find names of organizations serving your region. The entire presentation is very helpful but now that the four main Navigators have been funded they will each be working with additional Regional Lead Navigators around the state and those on-the-ground organizations may be better able to respond to requests for presentations and in-person sessions. Page 8 - shows a map of Michigan with the ten regions that are used to provide services. Page 13 - shows a map of Michigan by county and the number of languages spoken in each county. Page 18 - shows a general list of places or people that can assist consumers in Michigan. Page 29 - shows the Regions (from page 8) and the Regional Lead Navigators for that geographic area. Many libraries are considering how best to address local needs regarding the ACA. This update aims to help library staff connect patrons to available resources and community experts that can provide assistance. Digitization Open House

Members - The Sandusky District Library in Sandusky, Michigan, has been involved in a digitization project over the past year, filming local genealogical and historical resources and providing free access to these materials via our library website (http://sandusky.lib.mi.us) In celebration of this ongoing project, the library is hosting an Open House on Thursday, October 24th from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. I would like to extend an invitation to this event to any interested person, and would appreciate it if you would pass this invitation along to board members, local historians, genealogists, etc. Light refreshments will be served during the day.
