Masonry Repair Person

I am looking for a person to repair pillars and piers at our local history facility (a 100+ year old Carnegie building). We have two local masons who cannot take on any more work at the moment. 2015 Summer Reading materials are on the way!

The Library of Michigan will be mailing the 2015 Summer Reading manuals and incentives catalogs THIS week. Please look for the materials this week and next week in a padded tan mailer with a 2015 Summer Reading manual sticker. The manuals and catalog are full of great programming ideas and incentives on the Heroes theme. Incentive order deadlines: December 1st for March 1st receipt, January 1st for April 1st receipt, and March 1st for May 1st receipt. Remember to order your incentives as soon as possible too! Upstart orders the items based on your orders, so they may have run out if you order late. You are NOT charged until orders ship. AARP Tax-Aide Seeks Volunteers (Oakland County)

Press Release for Immediate Release October 21, 2014 Needed: AARP Tax-Aide Volunteers (Oakland County) The AARP Tax-Aide Program is a national volunteer program founded in 1968 and sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation, in partnership with local community centers. Tax aide volunteers are being recruited now, for Southeast Oakland County, to provide free tax preparation services to low and moderate income taxpayers, especially seniors. Volunteers of all ages are needed for tax preparation and support positions: · Good with numbers? Be a tax volunteer · Skilled in all things digital? Be a technology coordinator · Organized? Help sort tax paperwork, distribute materials, etc. · Love working with people? Be a greeter. · Want to help us get the word out? Be a communications coordinator. This past year our local Tax-Aide sites provided free tax preparation or tax counseling to over 4,000 citizens of SE Oakland County and its surrounding communities. The majority of these local clients are low income seniors in Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, Clawson, Ferndale, Madison Heights, Royal Oak, Southfield, Troy and surrounding communities. Volunteers will receive training in tax law, tax return preparation and IRS tax software during the month of January, 2015 for the tax season starting in February. A Fat Old Lady?

I'm looking for the origin or at least the author of a totally politically incorrect poem called "The Fat Old Lday" At least that is what my copy says that I found in a folder in a file drawer. This folder pre-dates my time here at the library so I have no idea where they got it from. The poem starts like this: Once there lived an old lady, Who was extremely fat and wide; She loved to snack on junk food, And she never walked outside. Edge of Eternity

It's a Wild World. Our Edge of Eternity (Ken Follett) audio book was returned last week for a very odd reason: disc #27 was NOT Edge of Eternity, but was actually disc #2 of Cat Stevens Gold. I contacted Books of Tape and Random House said that sometimes that happens because the audio book discs are recorded in the same place as music discs. Random House sent me a free replacement disc, but the replacement is also Cat Stevens. I have contacted them again to try to sort this out. I just wanted to share to let you guys know that if anyone ordered this audio book to double check disc #27, as it seems to be a legitimate mix-up from the recording studio. MAP Year 2 Update: 80+% of MAP Year 1, Only Five Months In

All, The end of this week, October 24, will mark the five month anniversary of Statewide MAP Year 2. I am glad to be able to share the news with you today that, a few days shy of five months in to Statewide MAP Year 2, you have circulated a bit more than 80% of the total number of MAP passes that were processed in the entire 12 month period of Statewide MAP Year 1. Nice work, everybody! My goal is to be able to report to you on the last workday prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, Wednesday, November 26, a couple of days past the halfway point of Statewide MAP Year 2, that you have circulated 100% of the number of passes in six months of this year's version of the program, that were checked out in the full 12 months of Statewide MAP Year 1. It won't be easy to reach our goal, as several of our popular partner venues, such as the lighthouses, have closed for the season. But I think we can get it done if we work together.
