Luce County Millage for Tahquamenon Area Library

Hello, We are happy to announce that a millage renewal was successful last night. We had 1,141 yes votes and 710 no votes. A typo on the ballot, calling this an increase rather the renewal it truly was, made things a little stressful, but the community came through to show their support. Two events coming up at the Warren Civic Center in December

Hello, We would like to tell you about two programs coming up at the Warren Civic Center in December: Thursday, December 11 at 6:00 Bob Morris is the author of Built in Detroit: A Story of the UAW, a Company, and a Gangster. As the son of labor leader Ken Morris, Bob grew up knowing many of the great labor leaders of our state. In Built in Detroit, Bob explores the beginning of the United Auto Workers, the battles with the companies, the union’s internal struggles and the company-instigated violence that followed. With vivid description and suspenseful storytelling, Bob covers the brutal attack against his father and the assassination attempts against Walter Reuther and his brother Victor. Bob will join us for a presentation and book signing. Thursday, December 18 at 6:00 For more than 30 years theater and speech educator Jim Glenn has made presentations about William Shakespeare to schools, libraries, theaters, private acting studios and senior groups. Mr. Glenn’s lively and informative talks set the Bard against a rich description of Elizabethan times—surprising and delighting audiences with intriguing details of the author’s life and work. Cromaine District Library Ballot Proposal fails by 94 votes--unofficial results

But likely to stand. At 11:45 pm, the last two precincts reported in and the proposal passed by 11 votes. That's what got reported on WDIV and the Livingston County Daily Press-Argus. At 12:19 am, more votes, likely absent voter ballots from one of the boards, came in and the proposal failed by 94 votes. We are grateful for the wonderful support, the incredible energy and hard work of our volunteers, and the many yes votes we did see--49.5% in favor, 50.5% opposed. And, Cromaine will continue to be the very best library it can be in service to this community, whatever the circumstances. ceci

Addison Twp Public Library Millage Passes!

I am thrilled to report that the Addison Twp. Public Library new additional millage request of 0.20 mills for a period of 10 years passed with a 54.63% approval! I want to thank the community for their support! Thank you voters! You do have a voice! We also want to thank the Clarkston Independence District Library -Yes Library! Committee for donating their campaign signs to us! They really made a difference! These are lucky signs so if anyone needs signs let us know. We would like to pay it forward! Wow, the IRS must be following Michlib-L. Here's the big announcement from late this afternoon: Based on the concerns expressed by you and many other TFOP partners, we are adding Form 1040 EZ, Income Tax Return for Single and Joint Filers with No Dependents, to the list of forms that can be ordered. We will email a supplemental order form to you in two to three weeks. We also understand your concern about the elimination of Publication 17, Your Federal Income Tax (for Individuals), from the program. As soon as Publication 17 is printed, we will automatically mail one reference copy to each TFOP location.
