patron applications
by Melissa Armstrong 15 Oct '15

15 Oct '15

I am curious. When a new patron walks in your library door does the library have them fill out a paper application? And do you store them? If anyone would like to answer me this they can send in a private message. Thank you! Probationary Period for Card Holders?
by Megan Buck 15 Oct '15

15 Oct '15

Hi! Do any libraries have a probationary period for new card holders? If you do, is it for everyone or it is based on some criteria; how long is the probationary period; and what are the limitations? We currently do not have any restrictions - a card is valid immediately and the card holder can max out checkout limits on the first day. Recently we have had a number of new card holders who do just that and are never heard from again. Any advice, examples, or suggestions are welcome! Thanks, Megan Megan Buck Dickinson County Library Iron Mountain, MI 49801 (906) 774-1218 www.dcl-lib.org<http://www.dcl-lib.org>

by Andrea Estelle 14 Oct '15

Good afternoon everyone! Does anyone out there in library land have a good solution for keeping spine labels on hardcover cloth-bound titles? We have purchased some classics in this beautiful style but they have proven difficult to process. We have tried some various methods and they don't stick as well to these books. Overhead people counter
by Marsh, Nyama 14 Oct '15

14 Oct '15

Hello Everyone, I've been looking into different types of people counters to plan ahead for replacing ours. We currently use a SenSource Wireless counter that utilizes a break-beam to count. (http://www.sensourceinc.com/PC-TB12N.htm) As I've been looking online I have found that there are overhead counters that are more accurate, but require a hard-wire connection. (http://www.trafsys.com/people-counting/) Do any of you use an overhead counter? If so, what company do you use and do you like it? If you recently purchased your system, how much did it cost and how many units do you have? Have a wonderful day, Nyama Nyama Y.
