On behalf of: Ken Bergwerff, township supervisor Library Director Patmos Library Jamestown Charter Township Job Description: • Assumes full management responsibility for all library operations; develops and implements policies and procedures of the department and Township; provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range library plans; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for reports and recommendations for suggested changes and improvements. • Establishes appropriate service and staffing levels; monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures and allocates resources accordingly. • Coordinates programming activities; contacts and arranges outside presenters/entertainers as directed; publicizes, promotes and evaluates programs. • Prepares annual budget and ensures efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, and facilities; oversees the selection, receipt and cataloging of new library materials; reviews collections on an ongoing basis and coordinates removal of materials. • Researches and secures grants and other sources of funding. • Assists the Library Board in execution of their duties; coordinates activities between the Library, Lakeland Library Cooperative, Hudsonville Public Schools, other Township Departments, hired contractors, and consultants. • Responds to public inquiries regarding library services, reference questions, cultural programs, technology advances and other related issues; prepares information brochures, articles, and reports to publicize the activities and services of the library, and to increase public awareness of the library as a community resource. Security strips to give away

I have 2 boxes of single-sided, and one (partial) box of double-sided security strips to give away. These are Affordable Library Products #43-200-950 (B-2) and 43-200-800 (B-1). They're similar to the 3M strips, just a little cheaper. They were purchased within the last year, but we're ditching our security system and won't be needing them. Project Outcome: An Integral Part of the Planning Process (Public Library Association) Free webinar available on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 2-3pm EST This webinar is designed to teach participants how to effectively include Project Outcome in the library planning process as it relates to strategic goals, decision making, and program evaluation. The outcome measurement process involves four key steps: 1) Set Goals, 2) Measure Outcomes, 3) Review Results, and 4) Take Action. While this webinar will cover all four outcome measurement steps, the focus will be on step 1, which includes setting goals based on community needs and identifying responsive library services to measure based on those goals. Projector Systems

We may have to replace ours soon, currently we use a laptop that connects to the projector (ceiling mounted) through a HDMI cord. Many different formats are supported, including permanent and traveling exhibitions, book or film discussion programs, historic site or district interpretations, living history presentations, and other face-to-face programs in public venues. All projects must be grounded in humanities scholarship in disciplines such as history, art history, film studies, literature, religious studies, philosophy, or anthropology. Projects must also demonstrate an approach that is thoughtful, balanced, and analytical (rather than celebratory). The approach to the subject matter must go beyond the mere presentation of factual information to explore its larger significance and stimulate critical thinking. NEH is a national funding agency, so the projects we support must demonstrate the potential to attract a broad general audience. We welcome humanities projects tailored to particular groups, such as families, youth (including K-12 students), teachers, seniors, at-risk communities, and veterans, but they should also strive to cultivate a more inclusive public audience. NEH encourages projects that explore humanities ideas through multiple formats. Proposed projects might include complementary components that deepen an audience's understanding of a subject: for example, a museum exhibition might be accompanied by a website, mobile app, or discussion programs. Planning grants are used to refine the content, format, and interpretive approach of a humanities project; develop the project's preliminary design; test project components; and conduct audience evaluation. Implementation grants are used to support final scholarly research and consultation, design development, production, and installation of a project for presentation to the public.
