Teen Programming Question

Good afternoon, I am currently working on adding a few teen programs at the Holly Township Library. One thing I would like to start doing is having a monthly video game club. The idea is that we will have a few different consoles and games available for those ages 13-18 to play. Some of the games will be provided but, I also want to allow them to bring in their own, as we don't have a large number of our own. Now my question is how much should I worry about video game ratings? I know many popular games are rated M. I don't really want to restrict these but, at the same time I don't want to get angry phone calls from parents either. If your library currently has video game programs how do you deal with this issue? Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. Wednesday, 2/15/2017 Session 2 of the five-session series Re-envisioning Technical Services: Identifying Leadership and Talent Management Best Practices Over the past several years, the area of technical services has evolved and the boundaries of technical services has become fuzzy. The scope of technical services is changing and interconnecting with other areas of the profession. Library technical services departments and staff now have unique and special training needs prompted by changing standards, new formats, and innovative technologies. In addition, technical services, like other departments in libraries, are facing leadership and succession planning issues. In 2015-2016, the Association of Library Collections & Technical Services President's Program Committee designed an online survey that was sent out to librarians and staff in technical services (including Libraries in ARL, Oberlin, and the University Libraries Group) that asked 28 questions regarding the major issues faced by technical services including: What new skills are needed in technical services? How are libraries developing staff skills? How are libraries handling training needs? How are libraries addressing leadership (gaps and staff placed in new leadership roles)? How are libraries identifying emerging leaders? How are libraries dealing with succession planning? The presentation will highlight the results of the online survey and provide detailed information regarding new skills, training, leadership and succession planning. Kindle Questions

My library is planning to start lending out Kindles for our patrons to use, and we have some questions for any library that has experience doing this. Did you set up an Amazon account specifically for the Kindle downloads or did you just use a corporate account? Are we able to purchase one copy of each Kindle book and then download that title on more than one Kindle at the same time? Have you had any issues with patrons accessing titles? MeL Minute - GovDelivery options

Hi all, Periodically we are asked how the MeL Minute messages are delivered, who can access them, and how to subscribe. Currently, the messages are sent via e-discussion lists that the Michigan library and educator communities have access to, namely, michlib-l(a)mcls.org<mailto:michlib-l@mcls.org>, meldatabases(a)mcls.org<mailto:meldatabases@mcls.org>, mamelist(a)mcls.org<mailto:mamelist@mcls.org>, and gmr-mhsla(a)list.uiowa.edu<mailto:gmr-mhsla@list.uiowa.edu>. In addition, as appropriate, the MeL Minute content is posted to http://mel.org/. Recently, we've added a new delivery method, GovDelivery, which is a system used by government organizations worldwide to increase digital engagement, connect with over 120 million citizens, build communities around data, and support training initiatives. Some of you may already receive GovDelivery messages from federal government agencies (Commerce, Census, Labor) as well as state of Michigan departments. So, what does all this have to do with the MeL Minute? It means that for individuals for whom subscription to one of the above mentioned e-discussion lists isn't an option, they can sign up for GovDelivery and get the same MeL Minute content that's delivered to the lists but without all the other postings and discussions .
