Survey: Services for low vision patrons

The Foundation for Fighting Blindness will be meeting here in Plymouth this weekend, and has asked for information on low vision services available throughout SE Michigan. At this time, we offer the following services: Monthly Low Vision Info Session - First Thursday of the month from 1-2:30 p.m. Guest speaker for special program arranged each month - format is social and informative. Collections & Equipment Audio Book Collection ( CD & MP3) Books and pamphlets about vision loss Computer with ZOOM software, alrge screen monitor, large print keyboard and Internet access Digital Talking Book Players Downloadable Books, Magazine, Music Large Print Book Collection Optelec CCTV Magnifier Collection Please take a moment to reply with a list of low vision services your library provides. Email Marketing Services

Hello Library Community - Our small rural library is currently considering an email marketing service and I wondered if some of you would share your sources / stories. We have investigated both MailChimp and Constant Contact and are leaning toward MailChimp because it is free and easy to use. Our new website will be designed in WordPress and it looks as though MailChimp can be integrated easily in to this software. Would any library be interested in a used (library withdrawn) copy of Trees: The Yearbook of Agriculture, 1949 by the United States Department of Agriculture? This is a worn copy; it was well used through the mid-eighties, but no longer meets the needs of our local patrons. Fifth Avenue Press | A First of Its Kind Imprint from the Ann Arbor District Library

The Ann Arbor District Library has launched a locally focused and publicly owned publishing imprint called Fifth Avenue Press. Fifth Avenue Press supports the local writing community and promotes the production of original content in all genres. The library invests in the production of each author's work, providing project management, editing, graphic design, layout and other assistance as needed, with the author retaining the copyright for their work Fifth Avenue Press will release its first nine books at a reception on November 5, which will include a book of poetry, two memoirs, a murder mystery and two picture books. The second wave of Fifth Avenue Press projects are already being accepted and the AADL looks forward to helping more local writers achieve their dreams of completing their work.
