"It's vitally important that kids continue to eat nutritious meals over the summer to keep them healthy and fueled to continue learning while they're out of school," Interim State Superintendent Sheila Alles said. Those up to 18 are eligible for the meals at dozens of schools and other locations statewide. Also eligible are persons, regardless of age, determined by MDE or a local school district to be mentally or physically disabled and who participate in a public or non-profit, private school program established for such persons. The MDE's summer food service program was created to ensure that children in lower-income areas could continue to receive nutritious meals during school breaks, when they do not have access to the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Programs. The Library of Michigan strives to support libraries' efforts to provide quality service and programming to their communities. A major element of excellent service is empowering library staff to learn and implement new skills and best practices. The Librarian Continuing Education program helps by providing financial support for library staff continuing education. Michigan public, academic and school library staff are eligible to apply for continuing education stipends. A little bit of Country

Last week, CADL kicked off Libraries Rock with a little bit of Country. We partnered with WITL radio on a unique promotion that gave two lucky people the opportunity to become "Roadies" during the Taste of Country Concert in Lansing. The winners got to help behind the scenes, as well as meet all the bands including Country Music Star, Brett Eldredge. (Images of winners with Eldredge and crowd size are attached) CADL used the promotion to create awareness of SRP, drive web traffic (entries were taken on our site) and position the library as a source for Country Music. There were over 250 entries and 9,000 people in attendance for the concert on June 9th. We also experienced a double-digit increase in SRP registrations when compared to the same period in 2017. Yoga in the Library
