They also need guidance on hygiene expectations. I am planning on doing the training myself since much of it seems library specific. I can show my staff the safe technique for removing gloves without creating more contamination, etc. There are good YouTube demos for that. --------------------------------------- Holly Hentz Hamburg Township Library I will be conducting the staff training myself. I will be covering hand washing, masks, gloves, social distancing, cleaning of high-touch area, and the cleaning products that we have. It really shouldn’t take long as it’s mostly common sense. **please excuse cross-postings** Granite, a resource for hotspots and data plans Libraries play a key role in ensuring internet access for all. When the physical library building is closed or use is limited, providing internet access requires new tools and resources. Hot spots can be part of the solution. MCLS is now an affinity partner with Granite, a provider of hot spots and data plans. MCLS is referring libraries to Granite. The purchase will be between the library and Granite and MCLS will provide libraries with the MCLS designated Granite contact. Providing Library Senior Services in a COVID-19 World June 17, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM ET. How to provide library service to seniors, the most vulnerable population affected during COVID-19, has been the question raised by outreach librarians across the United States. According to the Central for Disease Control (CDC), 8 out of 10 deaths related to COVID-19 are individuals aged 65 years and older. While we might not be able to visit our seniors or facilities in-person for the foreseeable future, libraries can reach this population while we shelter in place. During this webinar, please find tips and tricks that David J. Kelsey of the St. Charles (IL) Public Library District (SCPLD) and Glenna Godinsky of the Gail Borden (IL) Public Library District recommend in serving the senior demographic during COVID-19. Presenters David J. Kelsey has been the Outreach Services Librarian at the St. Charles Public Library in St. Charles, IL since 2015, where he coordinates the department's services and programs. David is the President-Elect for the National Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services and has spearheaded outreach interest networking groups for the Reaching Across Illinois Library System, System-Wide Automated Network, and Library Integrated Network Consortium. He was a 2017 ALA Emerging Leader and is the recipient of the Illinois Library Association's 2018 Alexander J. Skrzypek Award. His team is the recipient of the national 2018 ASGCLA Exceptional Service Award, administered by the Association of Specialized, Government, and Cooperative Library Agencies, a division of ALA. For his contributions to the outreach field, David received the 2019 John Philip Excellence in Outreach Award from the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services, an affiliate of ALA. David has been published in the March/April 2017 and July/August 2018 editions of Public Libraries magazine and was featured in the March/April 2018 edition of American Libraries magazine. David received his Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Library and Information Studies and is the recipient of the 2019 Alumni of the Year Award. Glenna Godinsky Life Enrichment Liaison at Gail Borden Public Library District in Elgin, IL and a 2020 Library Journal Mover and Shaker - Community Builder, is a certified dementia practitioner with a background in special education, having run a non-profit organization for at-risk students for over a decade. With her team of 12 volunteers, Glenna designs and implements monthly programming for 24 senior/developmental care communities. A co-founder of the Elgin Memory Cafe' and bilingual Cafe' de los Recuerdos, Glenna also led her city to earn the national recognition of Dementia Friendly Elgin, joined the Metropolitan Mayors' Caucus: Age-friendly Communities Committee and TRIAD, a first-responder group for seniors and community organizations. Teen Video Challenge!

Looking for an easy program to share with your teens that they can do at home this summer? The Teen Video Challenge is back for 2020! Please share on your social media, website, and with interested teens in your community! The Teen Video Challenge, sponsored by the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), is an annual nation video contest open to all teens (librarian and teacher support is encouraged). The challenge is for teens to create a public services announcement-type video that shows their unique interpretation of the 2020 CSLP slogan "Imagine Your Story". Videos are to be no longer than 60 seconds and should promote libraries and reading. Videos will be accepted June 1 through August 7, 2020. * There will be 5 national winners. Just have your teens submit a link to their video and complete a simple online form. * The program will accept submissions June 1-Aug 7, 2020, so that the program can be incorporated into summer programs (it's still a great opportunity to partner with schools with video production classes or clubs; students can produce the videos as a class project and submit them in June!) * Videos will be limited to 60 seconds, making this a doable project for small teams. * Permission and model release forms will only be required from the winning entries (completing the forms is a requirement to receive prizes and acknowledgement). * The TVC Ad-Hoc Committee will convene a judging panel from CSLP partners and members. * Teens can upload to the social media outlet of their choice.
