Virtual Live Story Time Versus Pre-Recorded
by Lorry Traver 27 Sep '21

27 Sep '21

Hi all, My library will be moving to virtual story time in a few weeks and I am trying to decide which route would be better to take, having the story time pre-recorded for easy viewing or holding a live story time virtually. Could any of you share your experiences with me, so I can decide what will or maybe will not work? Thank you! -- "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child." - Dr. Seuss Lorry Traver Youth Services Coordinator Ruth Hughes Memorial District Library 211 N. Program recommendation

On September 13th, MADL had the pleasure of hosting Greg Bodker of Backyard Birds and Beyond<https://backyardbirdsandbeyond.com/> on Zoom with his new program, Let's Go Birding! This was Greg's second time presenting for MADL. Greg always has great rapport with the audience and is incredibly knowledgeable about his subject, and his award-winning photography is an amazing enhancement to his presentations. The audience found the discussion on the different birding tools especially interesting and everyone had a good time. Visit Greg's website for information about the program and contact information. Access the 2022 Summer Programming Manual + update from CSLP Annual Meeting
by Lancaster, Cathy (MDE) 27 Sep '21

27 Sep '21

Attn: Summer Library Programmers Access Code for 2022 The Library of Michigan has purchased Michigan's public libraries online access to the 2022 Collaborative Summer Library Program's "Oceans of Possibilities" Manual. This manual contains all the programming resources, graphics, and book lists for the upcoming summer. I'm happy to share that CSLP has also updated their website and the manual is easier than ever to navigate. To open & download the manual, you will need the access code - the access code for 2022 has been sent to all public library directors in Michigan via LM's LibPass portal just this morning, having come to their inbox from "Mi(a)countingopinions.com<mailto:Mi@countingopinions.com>." If your director does not forward the access code to you in the next day or so, please reach out to them directly for the code. To open & download the manual from the CSLP website (www.cslpreads.org<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cslpre…>) hover over the "Manual Downloads" tab, located on the menu bar. From the drop-down menu, select 2022 Oceans of Possibilities. You will be prompted to enter your access code. Please do not share your code outside of your library or post it in a publicly accessible location. Online Store is now open The CSLP online store is also currently open: https://shop.cslpreads.org/<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fshop.cslp…>, to supply your library with posters, incentives, shirts, and more around the 2022 "Oceans of Possibilities" program. CSLP's Annual Meeting On Thursday I attended the 2021 Annual Meeting for CSLP as Michigan's State Representative. All state reps voted on the 2024 slogan and 2025 theme. The winners are... 2024 Slogan: "Adventure Beings at Your Library" 2025 Theme will be art. This program is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
