Hello everyone! The Call for Proposals is still open for our Spring Institute for Youth Services 2022 Conference until this Friday! At MLA's first in-person conference since 2019, we invite attendees to LEVEL UP. Whether that means growing professionally within your current role, wanting to communicate your vision better to your team, or aspirations for moving up in the profession, we invite you to share your ideas and energy for leveling up and making change within your organization and the library profession. Winter story time sessions - what are you all doing?

Hi all, I am just curious what others' plans are moving forward with winter story time? I am doing live virtual story time sessions, however we are struggling with copyright permission timelines which may mean not being able to read books at our January story times. I was wondering what everyone else is planning to do moving forward? Are you having virtual story times? Are you back to in-person stories? Hours: 40 hours per week, includes some weekends and evenings Salary: $43,000-$57,000 depending on qualifications and experience Benefits: Health, dental, optical insurance; disability and life insurance; vacation, sick and personal days; retirement plan. Central Michigan University Presentation - Camden Burd on the Upper Peninsula Secession Movement

On Wednesday, October 20, at 7:00 pm EDT, the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University will host the second of four presentations as part of the Clarke's Virtual Fall Speakers Series (you can find the entire line-up on the Clarke's website<https://www.cmich.edu/library/clarke/publicprograms/current_exhibit/pages/d…>). Camden Burd, professor of history at Eastern Illinois University, will join us to talk about the effort to create a 51st state - Superior. In the mid-twentieth century, a secession movement took hold in the Upper Peninsula. Camden Burd will discuss the immediate and long-term political implications of the push to found the State of Superior. This presentation is free and open to the public. The event will be broadcast via Central Michigan University's videoconferencing tool, Webex, and it will be recorded to enjoy at a later time.
