Library of Things
by Cierra Bakovka 02 Sep '26

02 Sep '26

Hi all, We've had our Things for about 5ish years now and are in the process of reviewing our policies. I would love to see what everyone else is doing please! What is your limit on # of "LoT" items that can be checked out per patron? How often do they have to sign a lending agreement/liability waiver? What do you do about long billed things? (ex: pursuit of return, etc). Also, I'd like to see your policy language if possible. Please and thank you! New Items Shelving/Processing Question
by Brown, Kathy 02 Sep '26

02 Sep '26

Hello all, We currently use shelf location and pop-up notes at check-in on our library catalog to indicate which items get shelved in our NEW materials area. This works most of the time, but we have had a number of NEW items ending up in our regular collections lately. How do other libraries with designated NEW areas handle/process new items to help ensure that they get re-shelved in the NEW area and don't end up in regular collections? Thanks, [cid:image001.png@01DD3A23.5859A800] Kathy Brown, MLIS Supervisor of Information Services Grace A. Dow Memorial Library 1710 W. Hi Everyone, Thanks again to those who checked in about the hacked email. These things do happen, and the good news is that the affected account has taken the steps to resolve the issue, and our listserv provider, MCLS, is aware of the instance. I'll take a moment to share these recent security campaigns I have seen. They’re great resources to share with patrons and staff when talking about online safety. * AARP's "Pause. Reflect.
