Child Protection Policy

Hello Lovely and Vast Knowledge Base, Our staff recently had a training on protecting children from sexual abuse. One of my takeaways was that our library needs a Child Protection Policy, to create a more formal set of rules in how our staff behave with kids. We train our staff who work directly with kids on no-gos but I can see that this isn't sufficient. Do you have a policy like this? I want to take a look at what other libraries are doing to mine for great ideas I have not thought of. I know I need to get some lawyer eyes on it at some point! Scheduling Software Recommendations

Hello All, The Richland Community Library is a class 3 library with a staff ranging from 12-15 people. Currently, we are doing all of our scheduling & time off requests through Google Sheets & email and it is becoming increasingly challenging and time consuming. Does anyone have any suggestions for scheduling software/systems that they would recommend for a staff of this size? Thanks! FREE! Computer Station

Hi All, This large, four-person computer workstation needs a new home! Computers and chairs not included. It is in very nice condition, but our space is quite limited and we are switching to something smaller. It's been here longer than I have, but I was told we originally got it from another library, so let the tradition continue! Details: Unique design makes it ideal for those who desire privacy Removable hoods can be set over the glass Keyboard trays slide out from under the desk Glass panels are removable (see attached picture) Computer monitors sit in a little nest under the desk and are viewed through the glass. As pictured, you can also place the monitors above the desk in the usual fashion if preferred. We are happy to include the pool noodles to prevent bumped knees We believe there was originally a plastic divider, but we do not have it Measurements: Total table size: 60" x 99.5 " Height: 27" to bottom of desk, 28.5" to top of desk Table divider height: 10" Each workspace is 48" wide and 28.75" deep The glass windows are 18" x 18" Pick up in Dimondale (near Lansing). Mona's Eyes

Hello, friends! I just purchased Mona's Eyes and it is the Europa version which has a double-sided cover that unfolds to twice it's size. Normally I would just cover it like a normal book but the cover has images of all the paintings that are referenced in the book and I feel it's important to have them included. We talked about reducing and laminating the images to include as inserts but aren't sure how well that will work. Has anyone done anything similar or have another idea? Thanks! Dear Library Colleagues, We cordially invite you, your family, friends and Community to attend the Detroit Historical Society's presentation titled, "The Detroit Lions & The Early NFL" hosted by the Pinckney Community Public Library on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:30pm. *Description:* The story of the Lions catching on in Detroit doubles as the story of professional football finding its place in American popular culture. Before the Portsmouth Spartans relocated to Detroit and donned the Honolulu Blue in 1934, several pro football teams tried and failed to gain a foothold in the city. What made the Lions different? This presentation examines the instability of the infant NFL, and how the Lions (and professional football) won the hearts of Detroiters to become the institution they are today, tracking the team from its small town roots, through its golden age in the 1950’s, and into the present. This is a live, free hybrid presentation, available in person and via Zoom.
