The Mount Clemens Public Library is looking to hire a Full-Time Young Adult Librarian. The Mount Clemens Public Library services a population of 22,000 people, is one of the oldest libraries in the state, and is housed in the county seat of Macomb County. We recently renovated our building and created a new Young Adult space with gaming, teen-oriented seating, an area for collection growth, and easy access to the Tech Lab. All it needs now is you! If you are teen-oriented, creative, innovative, and love having an opportunity to make a huge impact in our community, we’d love to hear from you. [Clarke Historical Library] Voices from the Flats: Readings from Michigan's Venice, the Transformation of the St. Clair Maritime Landscape, 1640 - 2000 [cover of Daniel Harrison's book, Michigan's Venice] Dr. Daniel Harrison Department of Anthropology, Wayne State University From the arrival of European explorers, missionaries, and traders, the St. Clair region has been a noteworthy experience. Over more than three centuries, land and water were transformed by successive maritime societies: Indigenous, colonial, industrial, and recreational. Drawing on contemporary journals, memoirs, official reports, maps, and illustrations, Dr. Harrison presents the flow of history through the voices of participants and eyewitnesses. Image of a purple pterodactyl sitting on a branch and reading.] Stone Mosaics Chapter 2, p 77 Stone mosaics can be a creative activity for different age ranges or even a multigenerational program. Participants will glue small stones onto a wooden plaque or canvas in a design of their choosing. Adjust the type of glue and other materials to fit the age of the participants and your library budget. The templates can then be laid on top of the surface for the patron to either trace lightly then remove or directly fill in with stones. Child Protection Policy

Hello Lovely and Vast Knowledge Base, Our staff recently had a training on protecting children from sexual abuse. One of my takeaways was that our library needs a Child Protection Policy, to create a more formal set of rules in how our staff behave with kids. We train our staff who work directly with kids on no-gos but I can see that this isn't sufficient. Do you have a policy like this? I want to take a look at what other libraries are doing to mine for great ideas I have not thought of. I know I need to get some lawyer eyes on it at some point!
