By integrating advancements such as artificial intelligence, chatbots, and augmented reality, libraries are transforming into dynamic, user-centered spaces that evolve to meet the changing needs of their patrons. Dr. Sandra Hirsh, Associate Dean for Academics in the College of Information, Data & Society at San José State University, will open the conference with her keynote, "The Next Generation of Libraries: Looking Ahead to Library 2035". As we navigate the rapidly changing landscape of information and technology, the future of libraries is continually evolving. What will libraries look like by 2035? Drawing on key insights from library leaders in the recently published Library 2035: Imagining the Next Generation of Libraries (March 2024), this talk explores the lessons learned over the past decade, identifies key themes from the book, and forecasts the opportunities, strengths, and challenges that lie ahead. This 12-month position leads and manages the operations of the Acquisitions and Resource Management (ARM) department, including managing a $3 million acquisitions budget; selecting, monitoring, and evaluating library resource and metadata vendors; ensuring effective and efficient acquisitions processes; overseeing electronic resource management; and monitoring the quality of metadata in library resource records to ensure discoverability. Elementary School Information Literacy Ideas

Hi All, I have an upcoming visit scheduled to teach some information literacy skills to third through fifth grade at the local elementary school. I used to just do a kind of Powerpoint presentation and show them some things, and do exaggerated silly misinformation and have them point it out. It got some laughs but I am wondering if anyone has some other things they do for this age group? I am a bit tired of the same old thing. Any ideas are appreciated! Questions about policies regarding Snow days, jury duty and other days off

1. What do other libraries do regarding Snow Days and hourly employee pay? If they are scheduled to work and the library closes due to snow, do they get paid? 2. Other acts of God, so to speak, like power outages, etc... Do the hourly employees get paid for their regularly scheduled time? 3. Jury Duty- our current policy states the following: If a salaried employee is called for Jury Duty, the employee's regular pay shall be maintained by the library for a period of, but not to exceed 5 working days. Salaried employees are required to reimburse the library for the jury pay received (Excluding travel reimbursements) while regular pay is maintained. Jury duty beyond 5 days required a leave of absence without pay. Hourly employees will not receive compensation from the library for jury duty. So, my question is how do other libraries treat jury duty and employee pay? Current jury duty pay in the state is a measly $30 a day for the first 5 days and $45 afterwards. Since my hourly employees make more than $15 an hour, they will be losing money. Doesn't seem fair. A charming introduction to simple money concepts in which a little bunny learns about the power and satisfaction that come with earning and saving money.
