U.P. Notable Books List honors the year's best U.P. authors and their books

MARQUETTE, MI (January 2nd, 2023)— the *Upper Peninsula Publishers & Authors Association* (UPPAA) announces the 4th Annual U.P. Notable Books List this week. UPPAA Notable Books chairman *Mikel Classen* (Sault Ste. Marie) initiated the effort in 2019 as a response to the lack of representation of U.P. writers in other Michigan state literary circles. Classen said, “Traditionally, recognition of Michigan books has been dominated by the university presses downstate and we would like to take this opportunity to highlight literature that focuses closer to home for us.” *Evelyn Gathu*, Director of the Crystal Falls District Community Library, will continue the library's alliance with UPPAA to co-sponsor the U.P. The club is available to any U.P. resident and features monthly Zoom meetups with national bestselling U.P. Notable author*s *such as*Karen Dionne* (/The Wicked Sister/). Members borrow the books from their local libraries or purchase at local stores prior to discussions. Presentations include author readings, a conversation on the making of the book, and a live Q&A with the audience. The next meeting is January 12th, 2023 where /The SideRoad Kids: Tales of Chippewa County / will be discussed with noted EUP columnist and author *Sharon M. Kennedy*. Ergonomics Space Assessments and Training

Hey y'all, I'm the Circulation Manager at Kalamazoo Public Library, and part of my job is managing the space and workflow for our circulation staff. As I've been working with the staff in the workspaces, I've been noticing that our set up feels awkward in ways. For both the efficiency of the work, and the ongoing physical health and safety of my staff, I'd love to have someone come in and give recommendations for configuring the space, and/or training staff on safe lifting, ergonomics, ect. *Has any libraries done something like this?* My only lead on this so far is to have a space assessment done through Bronson OT. They would potentially be able to come do an assessment of the space, but it's specifically related to my personal OT needs for my wrist tendonitis. Question for libraries that circulate iPads

Hello, iOs 17.2 has really thrown a wrench in things! Apparently, due to the new update, if a patron returning an iPad used a passcode to lock the iPad screen, the passcode is still required to erase the content and settings. In one instance, a new borrowing patron attempted to download their iCloud data to a newly erased iPad when it required a passcode (from the previous patron). Has anyone encountered this? Is there a workaround? Thank you!
