Let's talk Reference Section- What does yours look like? About how many books do you have? How much shelf space do you devote to it? We are a tiny Class I library with limited shelf space, and every single one of our Reference items is older than 10 years. I would like to (and have permission from my board president) ditch the entire section, but I was wondering what other libraries in the state are doing. Thanks! Successful candidates for this position will be able to demonstrate good judgment; are curious and flexible in their thinking; and have a history of working with others to achieve positive outcomes. Youth Card Welcome Packet

Hello Libraryland! We have started mailing library cards to new patrons with a welcome packet that explains all of our services and includes instructions for how to use our catalog and order items from MeL Cat which has been working wonderfully but I recently came to the realization that we didn't put together a welcome packet that was made with youth cards in mind. My questions for Mich-Lib are: a) Do you have a kids welcome packet for new cardholders? and b) What have you included or left out to tailor it to young patrons?
