STATE LIBRARIAN'S EXCELLENCE AWARD APPLICATION INFORMATION The Library of Michigan Foundation's State Librarian's Excellence Award<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.libra…> will be awarded to a library of any type (public, academic, school, special, tribal, etc.), including branch libraries, that exemplifies excellence in customer service. One (1) library in the state of Michigan will receive this prestigious award each year. The recipient library will receive a $3,000 cash prize and a trophy for display in its public area. Two Library of Michigan Foundation Citations of Excellence will be presented and the recipient libraries will each receive $1,000 and a small trophy for display. DEADLINE The absolute deadline for nominations is Friday, August 13, 2021. There will be no extensions. Submissions will be accepted online only. EVALUATION FACTORS Include demonstrating that your library provides superior service to its customers and community through library programs and staff interactions with customers and the service community. A brief introduction - UPPAA, UP Notable Books Club, etc

Dear Michlib people, This is a brief note of introduction, I am the current president of the *Upper Peninsula Publishers & Authors Association*. This group has been empowering U.P authors to write and promote their work since 1998. We are online at www.UPPAA.org for the main site and membership is open to everyone in the state of Michigan and beyond who has or had a U.P. connection in their lives. Our most exciting new outreach programs are the *UP Notable Books Award *which selects 10 outstanding U.P. books every year and the accompanying *UP Notable Books Club* which celebrates the authors with Zoom chats free to the public. The U.P. Notable Books Club is jointly sponsored by the Crystal Falls District Community Library, Evelyn Gathu , Director. We would encourage you to invite your own patrons to participate in these once-a-month opportunities to meet the authors in person and ask questions.
