CSLP Call for Volunteers + Listening Sessions

While the duties vary, committee obligations generally run for one calendar year. All committee work is done virtually; either through email, or through phone or online meetings. Absent voter ballot application period begins Voters encouraged to apply at Michigan.gov/Vote<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…>, return ballots early The application period to request an absent voter ballot for the Nov. 3 general election is now open and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson encourages voters to sign up to vote absentee and return their ballots as early as possible. Here is what you need to know: * All registered voters can apply for an absent voter ballot and may do so by filling out an online form at Michigan.gov/Vote<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…> and providing information including their driver's license or state ID card number and the last four digits of their Social Security number. * Alternatively, voters may print out an application form from the site and send it, or a written, signed request for a ballot, to their clerk. DPLAFest 2020 is September 8 at 1pm Eastern

Westbrooks, DPLA board member and Vice Provost of University Libraries and University Librarian at UNC Chapel Hill, will provide opening remarks on the impact of curatorial choices, and Yusef Omowale of the Southern California Digital Library will join us to talk about digitizing the Charlotta Bass papers. DPLA Community Manager Shaneé Yvette Murrain will discuss the process of building the Black Women's Suffrage Digital Collection and give a demonstration of the new website and members of DPLA's Metadata Working Group will discuss the creation of a Harmful Content Statement. The Northville District Library seeks at least 2 enthusiastic candidates who enjoys helping people with computers, networking and connected technologies to join our customer service directed team, as detailed below: Position: Computer Page – Part Time 10 to 20 Hours per week Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends. Duties: ∙ Assisting users by doing simple and intermediate troubleshooting of computer and network technologies. ∙ Answering general and intermediate computer and technology questions from patrons and staff alike. ∙ Monitor the Library’s Envisionware PC Reservation system, helping patrons sign in, and the application of monies for Print Management. ∙ Assist with usage of the Library Wireless system, including Mobile Print. ∙ Assist patrons with using library equipment and technologies as needed. ∙ Work on other duties as assigned by supervisor . Requirements: ∙ Demonstrable aptitude in explaining the usage of technology resources. ∙ Familiarity with the Windows computing environment, including general knowledge of Windows and Office. ∙ Familiarity with Apple and Android computing environments. ∙ Familiarity with smart phones, tablets, and mobile technologies, including apps. ∙ Understanding of how Internet connections work, including networking, wireless, web browsers, HTML, etc. ∙ Excellent and engaging communication skills, including ability to adapt to a variety of age groups and experience levels among library computer users. ∙ Patient, friendly and approachable demeanor. Works well with others. ∙ Good at observing and multi-tasking. ∙ Applicants must be at least 17 years old.
