Invitation to CSLP Listening Sessions

In preparation of its 2020 Annual Meeting, the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) will be holding four Listening Sessions throughout the month of August. These sessions are open to all staff at CSLP Member Libraries, and are your opportunity to have your voice heard, and to hear from others. Summaries from the listening sessions will be shared with all CSLP State Representatives, Board Members, and Committee Chairs. Please contact for your State Rep (Cathy Lancaster, lancasterc5(a)michigan.gov<mailto:lancasterc5@michigan.gov>) for a copy of these summaries. All Michigan public libraries are members, thanks to support in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Listening Sessions will be held at 2pm (EDT) on the following dates: * August 18th * August 20th * August 25th * August 27th These four sessions will accommodate up to 100 participants each. Registration is required. For those wishing to speak, we will have thirty speaking slots per session. Each speaking slot is up to two minutes in duration. These slots are on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to speak, please indicate which topic you would like to address on the registration form. The Superior District Library has two new positions open at the Bayliss Public Library, located in Sault Ste. Marie. We are looking for a Full-Time Financial and HR Manager for the Superior District Library. This person is key to the whole operation of the district, and works in close association with the District Director. Experience with QuickBooks is a must, as well as great organizational, communication, and personnel skills. The second position is Part-Time for Adult Programming and Marketing of events. This is the job that gets to have all the fun. You will be in charge of scheduling programs and promoting them to the public. Experience with Canva, Social Media sites, and grant writing preferred, but a great personality is a definite requirement. Boosting Workplace Wellbeing is coming up July 31! This course is designed to introduce you to the PERMAH pillars for wellbeing and to help you develop small actions you can take to increase each of these pillars. Research shows that workplace wellbeing is an important factor in performance and positive change. This course will introduce the definition of, and importance of wellbeing in the workplace. It will also introduce the learner to the PERMAH evidence-based framework for wellbeing developed by Professor Martin Seligman, which suggests that the presence in our lives of positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment, and health all cultivate our wellbeing. During this course, attendees will discuss and develop specific interventions (small actions) they can take to boost each of the PERMAH elements of wellbeing. Larry Martin's WWII in Their Own Words - VIRTUAL

Hello Everybody, Back in May, the Clarkston Independence District Library (CIDL) and the Clarkston Community Historical Society presented the very first virtual edition of Larry Martin's WWII in Their Own Words with a very good turnout. Larry was very informative and entertaining about everything and anything related to World War II. He has interviewed soldiers and civilians who suffered and persevered during the war. Since COVID-19 has prevented him from going to libraries to physically present on this topic, he is very willing to do his program virtually. Virtual Adaptive Umbrella Workshop!

Hello everyone, We had been looking forward to another fabulous day of interacting with attendees in person at our 6th biennial Adaptive Umbrella accessibility workshop in April, but we are now looking forward to expanding our workshop's reach to those who may have been unable to attend in person with a virtual workshop on September 23rd! Our speakers will also be including ideas for virtually engaging and welcoming the disability community in their presentations.
