The twelve-member CT State Library Board is inviting applications for the State Librarian position. With an annual $11 million budget (which includes $2 million in LSTA funding) and 87 staff, the State Librarian leads a forward looking, multi-faceted information agency. Key opportunities include: transitioning the State Library in the rapidly changing world of COVID-19; articulating to policymakers the role that libraries can play and how libraries can advance other public policy agendas; enhancing the State Library's technology infrastructure; and facilitating greater collaboration with the libraries of CT, CT agencies, and library organizations. The State Librarian will also have a proven commitment to public service, strong interpersonal skills, and an extensive knowledge of emerging technologies. ALA, Capital One invite rural libraries to apply for Community Connect: Digital Access at Home grants The American Library Association (ALA) and Capital One announced a new grant opportunity for rural public libraries that will support digital access and financial capability for 20 communities nationwide. Through Community Connect: Digital Access at Home<http://www.ala.org/tools/programming/communityconnect>, 20 rural public libraries will receive resources to support financial capability and internet access for their patrons for two years. Applications will be accepted from July 6 to August 26, 2020. Library workers can apply online at ala.org/CommunityConnect<http://www.ala.org/tools/programming/communityconnect>. "The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the digital divide - and brought new urgency to ALA's longstanding commitment to equitable connectivity," said ALA President Julius C.
