Coordinates and administers the formal educational efforts of the Library including developing instructional materials, research guides, web tutorial and support services to guide WMed stakeholders through the world's recorded knowledge. Provides instruction and consultation in bibliographic research methods, health literacy and ethical scholarship including avoidance of plagiarism and respect for copyright. Responsibilities * Instructs on effective searching and evaluation of results for biomedical databases, evidence-based clinical resources, and point-of-care tools. * Provides consultation on how to use and retrieve literature and effectively manage citations with bibliographic management tools. * Develops self-instruction programs for information literacy skills and assessment tools to gauge student learning. * Delivers library instruction using technology tools including course management system, mobile and tablet devices, screen casting and web conferencing. * Co-teaches orientation sessions, course-integrated instruction and workshops. * Responsible for outreach and marketing activities to promote awareness of the Library's resources and services. * Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of services, policies and procedures. * Evaluates information resources and integrates new technologies in delivery of health information services. * Supplies, organizes, and manages content on the Library's web page and medical school media channels. * Participates on medical school committees to support teaching, research, and clinical care activities. * Ability to work occasional rotations for evening and weekend hours as scheduled. * Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects. * Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions. * All other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Master's degree required, preferably from a library or information sciences program accredited by the American Library Association. * A bachelor's degree in the life or health sciences preferred. * Academy of Health Information Professionals credential preferred. * Skill in teaching adult learners. * Ability to create and deliver user-centered information literacy instruction. * Familiarity with assessment tools to evaluate and guide Library strategic planning. * Demonstrated interest and aptitude for technologies relevant to medical education and clinical practice. * Willingness to contribute to the profession through scholarly publications and service activities. * High degree of organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills. * Maintains current knowledge of the trends and issues in higher education, scholarly communication, research practice and health care. About Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine As one of the newer US medical schools, WMed is an exciting environment to pursue an academic career. The medical school is a collaboration of Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo's two teaching hospitals, Ascension Borgess Health and Bronson Healthcare. The medical school is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation supported by private gifts, clinical revenues, research activities, tuition, and endowment income. Michigan library staff - Advanced facilitation trainings now open for registration!

Due to the success of last year's workshops and back by popular demand, MCLS, in partnership with the Library of Michigan<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/>, is happy to be offering six more trainings on facilitation presented by We Can Work It Out, LLC<http://www.wecanworkitoutllc.com/> [new-window-icon.png] . Two dates in July will be offered for the Basic Facilitation workshop (repeats of the courses offered last year) and are available to new participants. Two Advanced Facilitation workshops, on the topics of, "Handling Conflict" and "Coming to Agreement," will each be offered in two locations in September and October 2019. These trainings are heavily subsidized by the Library of Michigan, so the registration fee is just $40 per person and includes lunch! Screening of the film "The Public" this Sunday in Saginaw

The Public Libraries of Saginaw has partnered with the Riverside Saginaw Film Festival to bring 'The Public' to the historic Court Street Theatre in Saginaw on Sunday, June 9th at 5:00 pm. We want to take the opportunity to invite librarians across Michigan to attend. Admission is just $5 cash at the door. The Court Street Theatre is located at 1216 Court Street, Saginaw, MI 48602. Parking is available on street, across the street in the open lot, and behind the theatre. Concessions are available. The Public (2018) Rated PG-13 1 hr 59 min An unusually bitter Arctic blast has made its way to downtown Cincinnati. At odds with library officials over how to handle the extreme weather event, the patrons turn the building into a homeless shelter for the night by staging an "occupy" sit in. What begins as an act of civil disobedience becomes a stand-off with police and a rush-to-judgment media constantly speculating about what's really happening. This David versus Goliath story tackles some of our nation's most challenging issues, homelessness and mental illness and sets the drama inside one of the last bastions of democracy-in-action: your public library. Culture/Travel Speaker Recommendation

Mariya Fogarasi has given four excellent culture/travel programs at our library and has attracted a number of devotees. In each program she covers history, geography, gastronomy, and culture accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation.
