Last Call to Apply for the Michigan Research Institute for Public Libraries Scholarship

This is the final day to apply for the the Research Institute for Public Libraries Scholarship. Apply at https://bit.ly/2HQNH8z Applicants from public libraries may apply for one scholarship to attend a Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL) Regional event on August 7-8, 2019, in East Lansing, Michigan. Scholarships are provided by the Colorado State Library and the Colorado Library Consortium. The deadline to apply is February 26, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Applicants will be notified of a decision by March 15, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The scholarship will be awarded via reimbursement after the conference. Funds may be used for transportation, registration fees, lodging, and meals other than those provided during the event. Scholarship amounts will be determined on a sliding scale based on distance, library size, and need up to $750.00 Applicants for the scholarship must meet two criteria: Their library must be located more than 50 miles away from the conference location of East Lansing, MI (conference zip code: 48823). The Bloomfield Township Public Library is a Class 5 Library, with a service population of 41,070 people. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to provide quality service to the staff and the public and the desire to work in a collaborative, team environment. POSITION TITLE: Youth Services Page DEPARTMENT: Youth Services, reporting to Assistant Department Head RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct public service: • provides positive, pleasant professional services to staff and public • directs patrons to appropriate staff for assistance • retrieves materials for patrons and staff Indirect public service: • sorts and shelves materials, • reads shelves to ensure accurate order so that materials can be found by patrons • follows direction of supervisor • assists department staff before and after programs when needed REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: • Able to lift, bend, and stoop to shelve materials • Able to push or pull carts weighing at least 20 pounds • Desire to serve the public in a positive manner • able to visually review materials and discern voice and audible tones • Computer/keyboard experience Desirable: • Public library work experience HOURS: Part-time, approximately 10 weekly, including some evenings and weekends. Meeting Room Reservation and Program Registration: What Software Do You Use?

Hello! We currently use EventKeeper for program registration and a regular calendar for keeping track of meeting room reservations. This morning we had a demo of the SignUp (program registration) and Spaces (room reservation) software by Demco and were REALLY impressed; however, we'd like to consider other available options.
